Artificial difficulty in firefight

Firefight is not challenging anymore. The only word I would use to describe it is frustrating.

It’s frustrating when I spawn in with a vehicle/weapon that should do massive damage and I get cross mapped by an elite with a storm rifle because the base damage of infantry is raised 100 fold.

It’s frustrating when I spawn in with and high power weapon and empty clips of ammo into an enemy and only take down 1/8 health because the enemies in FF are bullet sponges.

It’s frustrating getting close to a boss only to have a mob of 20+ super OP/bullet sponge enemies spawn on top of you.

It’s frustrating having the next objective spawn with enemies already in top of it who are already capturing/destroying it.

It’s frustrating dying with 30 seconds left on the last boss who’s SO close to dying and getting a 20+ second wait time.

There’s no tough mechanics or anything here. It’s not about the team working together cohesively. It’s about how many clips can empty out of your gun before the next OP bullet sponge turns their eyes towards you.

A really good example of this is the new Grunt Mech bullet sponge boss. There’s not way to stun him, no way to do bonus damage, nothing to do but shoot and hope his OP neddler shots miss you.

Don’t get me wrong, I still play and it enjoy myself when I get on a team that’s not afraid to bust out a few Mantises or Scorpions. However, this is still artificial difficulty at its finest.

Urban is my most hated one, Not scaled for Tanks & its objectives are so bad.

Edit There should be an Option for players to choose the difficulty that is suited for their skill like If I put it on Normal, it’ll find Firefight Servers with Normal difficulty.

I agree, i still play it and i do enjoy it most of the time, but man it’s so frustrating. It’s the worst when you have a defend objective, first of all it happens when you’re on the other side of the map, so by the time you get there it’s almost been captured. Secondly, SO MANY enemies spawn, that itself isn’t the issue, what the issue is, is when they spawn behind you. Like really? Right behind me. Instant death right there.

You forgot that the enemies have aimbot accuracy and you cannot kill or hurt anything inside the Covie dropship.

Went in tunnel and got shot by knights on top of garage so I turned around to go on the side but their bullets followed me AROUND the corner and destroyed it in seconds. Really their shots go that far and have that high of magnetism that I can’t even dodge around a corner?!

I don’t mind a challenge but accuracy like that is ridiculous. Getting shot from across a map that shouldn’t have that type of accuracy shouldn’t be happening for every round.

I think the difficulty in Firefight is good for one reason only. I played a crap tonne of it before trying the campaign on Legendary, and where before I’d found it near impossible, after dozens of matches of Firefight I found it laughably easy lol even the triple Warden fight on mission 14 took me less than 2 minutes. You know the difficulty is ridiculous if makes the campaign seem THAT easy on the highest setting.

Ha! I feel your pain. I had a similar situation on Darkstar. I went into the Fortress with my ultra on one side, with boosters on, and as soon as I exited the other side an Elite planted a sticky on me. Just insane!

I’ve had that happen a time or 2! Plasma grenade gets thrown as soon as I’m in view of an elite.

My biggest issues are the spawn timer-locations, and the amount of ammo that you are given at spawn. I hate having to wait 30 seconds, then spend another 20 seconds to get back to the action, only to be slaughter as soon as I get there!

If a standerd banshee can kill you in literally 1/10th of a second (without using the bomb attack), you know your ai is way to OP.

Seriously. Staring at a respawn screen for half the game isn’t fun or challenging.

Extremely frustrating is an understatement!

Yea those are annoying!!! I had a banshee ultra and fired 3 Canon blasts at an Elite on top of the garage and his shields barely flickered! He literally would not die as I spent the last 30 seconds of the match trying to kill him!!*

I’ve done the same thing with a Wasp, hardly any damage was actually dealt, AND he almost managed to shoot me out of the air. Plasma Pistols are still surprisingly effective against all elites. It doesn’t remove shields with one overcharge, but it gets the job done.

Another thing: wave time limits. Why do we still only get three minutes to struggle with a wave of legendary Knights among other OP Promethean enemies AND kill 3 mythic Wardens Eternal with a 30 second respawn timer? Die once, that’s 1/6 of the game you spend staring at a respawn screen.

I’d be a little more okay with it if there was a way to gain more time by killing bosses or securing objectives, but there’s not.

Up-armored vehicles and wheelman aren’t even enough to protect yourself against the literal intant-kill, perfectly accurate shots from the enemy AI. 1 well-placed banshee bomb can easily destroy a wraith ultra, for example. And on maps like Urban, you can’t even dodge the bombs because of the openness of the maps. Not to mention how something as basic as a light rifle can badly damage your vehicle in just a few hits.
It’s ridiculous. There’s reasonable difficulty and there’s insane, in-your-face “lol you basically can’t do anything to the enemies” frustration. You get brutally punished for the smallest errors or even no errors at all. H2 on Legendary is easier than WZFF.

Totally agree. Someone said earlier that WZFF is good prep for a legendary campaign run, it’ll feel like easy mode after lol. So accurate.

Oh yes, they are a pain, but the Soldiers, my God they Trigger me xD
