Not sure how I feel about the art style. Most of the community has complained about the art style since 4…but I actually think the look needed to go in that direction. I always thought going back to the old style too much would be a weird move. (I love the old art style btw)
The latest reveal just seemed off. The armor seems way different to the tech demo reveal. The new colour looks strange and the armor size looks weird. Overall the whole trailer seemed a bit cartoony to me.
Loved the music though, and the last part of the trailer with the Cortana voice over.
I will admit, when I first looked at the trailer, it just didn’t feel “Halo”. The pilot felt off as is, and so did the pelican with how spacious it seemed. What didn’t definitely was Chief: His armor had some minimalist wear to it on the hand plates and felt much more real to me than Halo 5’s, which looked more plastic. As for the assault rifle, I’m unsure of it. I’ve had plenty of good memories of Halo: Reach and felt some serious nostalgia from it, but I’m not sure if I really do like it. Not that I don’t, I favor that AR over most; it just feels a bit off.
Ring was spot on tho.
Overall, I like most of what they’ve delivered; I just have to get used to whatever the new engine has to deliver for this art style they plan to share.
It didn’t give off the military vibe from classic Halo, which I found to be disappointing. Without more to go on though, I’m not going to discredit it completely.
I’m already biased against the armour, because I don’t like Chief’s Forward Unto Dawn/Halo Legends Mk IV armour design, which this armour is very similar too. Unless it is that same armour, and Chief is forced to wear it because his Mk VI can’t be repaired, I won’t like it.
