Overall, I quite enjoyed what they showed, was really good. However, there was something that stuck out like a sore thumb to me. Something about the art, more specifically the graphics or renderings just looks, off. To me, the gameplay had a plastic look to it, almost cartoonish in a way, while the earlier games have a more real look to them. I think this may come down to the rendering and textures. I suspect this is likely an earlier build than then where they currently are with the game. I hope by the time the game launches, this nitpick of mine get resolved. Did anyone else have this issue?
You know what I kinda agree with you. Not an issue, but an observation.
IMO. Its faaaar from being the rubber/ plastic feel and looks like what original Halo 2 and Halo 3 were. But I didn notice a lack of, lets say… metallic sheen on the surfaces that seems supposed to be metallic, a bit bland. But then again, still time to polish them metals. Also Im not sure if 343 had that demo on Xbox One X or Xbox Series X?
It all seems to have weight and impact, but yeah more metal sheeeeeen!
Yeah I tend to agree with you. I loved what I saw, but it was ultimately a demo to show the various gameplay aspects of Infinite. We had a tech demo two years ago highlighting the art style, a demo (okay not really a demo, but a gameplay teaser) last year highlighting story elements, and now this demo highlighting gameplay. Once all three are merged in the final product, I think we will be playing a very well made game.
I agree it did look a bit off.
I definitely see the plastic reference.
To me, everything looked a bit too clean and shiny. Wasn’t really any grit anywhere. Weapons were full of sheen and so was the Halo Ring. Considering a war happened here it didn’t feel like it.
It’s got a lot of resemblance to H4/H2A in terms of graphics in my opinion, and I wasn’t a huge fan of that style. With that being said, after watching the gameplay a few times over I’m getting more into it over time.
It needs a good upgrade, i don’t like how even grass looks like it was made with plastic.
My first comment to my wife when watching this was, this looks kiddy. My second thought was maybe I’m too old for this game and they’re trying to market to a different generation. Back in the day during the Reach trailer it was bad -Yoink!-. Maybe the game now is for a younger crowd.
All I’ll say is it should look better than Halo 2: Anniversary.
But it doesn’t.
