I strongly believe we should return to Halo: Reach’s art style for future Halo games. The past few weeks I’ve been playing some Reach, and upon returning to 5 have noticed that Spartans in particular look like toys in comparison. Not even the Memories of Reach armors look any different.
One of the biggest changes in the design has to be the new “wet suit” undersuit that Spartans have. There’s no thickness to it at all, so all armor has to be stuck on top of it rather than be weaved into it. It looks like a kid wearing a loose life jacket that floats up to his ears in the water. The end result is like a bunch of blocks slapped on a stick figure. None of it looks practical, or protective for that matter. Here is a perfect image for reference.
I’ve read that 343 changed the Spartans in an attempt to look more agile and flexible in tandem with the new mobility mechanics, but in my opinion I think the Spartans in Reach look much more agile and flexible than those of Halo 5.
