Armour upgrades[How it could work](Please Read Before Posting)

So was just wondering how this went.

Most people do not want armour upgrades in the multiplayer but i kind of want it a bit. But i think this may work out.

First armour will be purely aesthetic in mulitplayer where you play against other players.

But when in Spartan Ops mode your armour has a direct impact on the game. Your upgrades and ability shall have an impact on this mode.

Why put it in solely for Spartan Ops.

Simple. You do not have to deal with weaker players or new players losing horribly cause the other player has more gameplay, experience and more upgrades under his belt. So that there is no improper balance in the multiplayer. Though fun for the guy with the edge not for the one without it.

While in the spec ops what happens is that you are playing against a.i’s who are not going to complain. And the guy with the edge will be having fun, with no consequences of the other player feeling pathetic, cause they do not have the upgrades, needed to challenge him. As the person with the disadvantage is the a.i who will not complain no matter what you do.

So i was wondering if Halo 4 upgrades should have an impact solely on Spartan Ops and not on the multiplayer. Though if there are any problems in getting this done i understand, and i am happy for your consideration of the idea.

Also if you are not going to do this for other reason, i understand fully well, that you may have had an idea, and it may actually be great. Many games other than COD have these and have it worked well.

Just like how forerunner vision is in another game, forgot its name, but it helped remove camping, and actually made gameplay alot more strategic.

First time posting here with link after being on Bungie.

To me that’s WAY too long ranged, but I do admit the models of the people while he activated it does look pretty good.

i’ll restate my stance on this, i like armor for aesthetic only, the idea of having stat perks on armor not only makes it harder on new players (which, if it is the case, will probably lead to purchasable upgrades a la bf3) but also takes away from the core halo game play that i personally enjoy. i would rather die to someone due to skill (i consider luck a skill as well.) that to a fact that his armor gives him a distinct advantage over me.

Kind of agree.

Though i think it should be more or less like a radar distance, or a slight spread. Like a couple metres.

Maybe the radius as big as that of the bridges in sword base.

At first i though it should be more like a still photograph. You fire it, and it immediately paints the area. And you can use that photo to reference, where everyone was, so that you can plan out your own ambush.

You did not read my post did you.

Read what i meant on how they should be used. I did not use it for versus.

I suppose it could work fine for Spartan Ops but we’re already going to have armour abilities in customizable loadouts. I don’t really think any other excess abilities are needed.

But I guess as long as armour customization is completely aesthetic during multiplayer, then it wouldn’t really be a big deal.

Also, Gotham City Impostors has targeting goggles. Sort of like x-ray vision. You can see through buildings/walls to locate enemy players.

The thing with these goggles though is that they place a mark on the target to show their location to the whole team. The whole team can be targeted at once, the goggles have decent range, and the targeting lasts maybe a bit too long.

As long as Forerunner vision just allows you to see their location rather than marking them, then I won’t mind it as much.

You actually make some good point in this. Armour abilities i think are a different story altogether.

The main reason i say this is cause your armour will have an effect in the game. Now how i do not know. Though i think the shields will help give you a chance to fight back, from any suprise or disadvantage unlike COD where well you were unlucky, so you died.

I think placing markers will not be that interesting. Though blacklight retribution i think have nailed it, somewhat.
