Armour Mods vs. Armour Ablities

Guys, I’ve been seeing a lot of threads talking about a more diverse Armour Mod selection. I agree with those. However, a lot of people are getting “Armour Mods” and “Armour Abilites” confused. There’s a difference between “Armour Abilities” and “Armour Mods”. Armour Mods are slight changes to existing parts of your HUD, such as extra ammo, better sensors (Patrol Case and Adv. Sensors respectively.) This is not to be confused with Armour Abilities, which are basically entirely different abilities your Spartan can do. For example, Bubble Shield, Regen Field, Jetpack, Armour Lock, and Hardlight Shield are all Armour ABILITIES. They are active power-ups that need a press of a button to activate. The Halo 5 Armour mods are PASSIVE mods, which means that they are always “on”, such as Advanced sensors. You don’t need to press a button for that. It becomes part of your overall HUD. So when people ask for more armour mods, they are not asking for armour abilities. It was announced that there would be no Armour Abilities in Halo 5, as they are being replaced with “Spartan Abilities”, namely, Clamber, Sprint, Thruster Pack, Spartan Charge, and Smart-Link. Spartan Abilities are also “passive”, as they require no cooldown. They simply add to the overall gameplay, instead of changing it like the earlier Halos did. I’m not saying that either of those is superior in any way, I’mjust clearing up the confusion.

Bubble shield is a piece of equipment not an armor ability

He means drop shield, it is extremely easy to get the two mixed up.

I can understand that. I never really liked equipment due to 3’s physics and armor abilities were somwhat clunky as well.

It’s both technically, but that’s another problem; people requesting equipment. Not that I don’t want them back, I really loved equipment and would love them back. But don’t ask for them in a thread asking for damn perks.

I am so glad someone made this thread because the armor mod idea thread has so much wasted potential because people don’t know the difference between the two despite me explaining it at least three different times in the thread. The only ideas I’ve seen that work in that thread is the idea for drivers to throw grenades, a mod for clamber speed and jump height, and the Survivor mod from Halo 4 some users and I threw out there.

That’s it. Everyone else? Jet pack this, no armor lock that. Give me back the bubble shield! We should get Promethean vision back! Those aren’t armor mods, those are armor abilities and equipment. I was about to make this thread, thank you for doing it for me.

Yeah, most people struggle to understand the simple difference.
Armor Mods = Passive, they’re always on.
Armor Abilities = Active, you use them as required.

Thrusters, Spartan Charges, and Ground Pounds are our version of Armor Abilities in Halo 5.

these are equipments…

You forgot to mention Sprint and Thruster Pack, just saying.

EDIT: Oops saw you listed them under SA. Really SA and AA are the same thing, with a different name.

All expect armor lock are armor mods and i guess jet pack. The rest are equipment. UNSC did not make the bubble shield, regen shield, or hardlight shield. In my opinion these are equipment.

Actually the bubble shield is of UNSC origin.

And I don’t think you understand what we’re saying… this isn’t about the lore; this is about features in Halo 3, Halo 4, and Reach being confused with the perk system present in Halo 5’s Warzone in a thread asking for ideas for new armor mods.

I liked equipment. It added more to the map awareness. I also think equipment could work with Halo 5 as well, but I know that adding equipment into Halo 5 is not going to happen. It’s a possibility for Halo 6 though.

we don’t need more stupid abilities in halo their are other games that are filled with gimmicky things like that go play those games. 343 need to focus on getting the core gameplay right and actually make a worthy entry into the halo franchise.

No problem, I sick of everyone asking for Hardlight and stuff like that. There was even one that was like this.

> How bout a reactive armour lock so when ever a vehicle come close to you you become invinsible and the vehicle is automatically destroyed.

Like, REALLY?

No, I was referring to the abilities in Halo 4, I got some mixed up.
