Armour lock in Heavy BTB? Why??

it bugs me that every time i have someones shield down they go in Armour Lock , it really bugs me because it destroys the fast paced game type that it should be. Anyone Agree?

It’s nerfed AL, just keep shooting them since it drains the charge faster. Or go shoot someone else, there are 7 other people out there.

i know but, DMR or any other precision weapons isn’t realy effective, and of course i start shooting at someone else if i see them, but it stays annoying

snickerdoodle, I have to admit that even with the nerfed AL in BTB Heavies, it becomes mildly annoying trying to pick people off with a DMR. I feel it was included to provide infantry protection from run downs (And so that people can get their anti-ghost achievement) and in that regard it works great to give infantry some much needed counters against vehicles, but when fighting against other infantry it’s mildly annoying to have them lock up while someone shoots you with a tank.

Guy has a point.

Why are you using the DMR when there are several rockets, spartan lasers, etc on the map?

ReplacedAnt9: Sometimes these weapons just aren’t available, if you got a spawn too far away from one of them. I’ve seen players pick up power weapons and then proceed to dive into the nearest vehicle.

What’s the point? I… Don’t really know…

But yeah, sometimes you’re just left with your DMR. I’m not saying armor lock doesn’t have a place in BTB Heavies, it’s probably the best gametype suited for it really. I guess we’ll just have to make due with it being there.

Problem is not AL just in Heavy BTB. Problems is, it is anywhere else as well. I guess gameplay would be just too fun without it.

If anything, BTB is exactly where AL belongs.

If you have a DMR, toss a 'nade at the AL’ed person and just wait for the charge to drain. The nerf makes it easily counterable.

you’ve got a valid point, i have to admit that.

I think it belongs in heavies more than anywhere else due to the chaos. I dont use it but if others want to it their choice. Also if AL wasn’t around I would dislike jet pack that much more.

I was on btb non heavy today and i stuck a guy who went into armor lock with a plasma launcher, and it still killed him. They can’t stay in there forever so just stick them when they come out.

BTB against vehicles is the only legit place the AL should be. Refer to 22 sec and 24 sec - the only reason AL should be in the game is an infantry defense ability against vehicles.

Halo Reach Mulitplayer Beta Reveal

It’s a super casual playlist, what did you expect? Though it has the honor of being the only playlist where AL is tolerable due to size of the maps used in BTB.

It’s really useful for destroying charging vehicles or disabling them EMP. Ugh now i feel unclean saying something good about Armor Lock but it’s true nonetheless.

You simply don’t move fast or jump high enough to dodge vehicles or grenades most of the time. That’s where AL comes in i guess…

Still a crutch for bad kids and it’s horribly abused on smaller maps.

I don’t mind AL being in there.
Makes the game a little more challenging.

or evade?

I don’t mind AL on maps with rockets or GL.

I dislike sprint on maps with the sword (zealot might be the exception).

I dislike jetpack on any map with a singularly powerful high ground… countdown, pinnacle, reflection… or on maps where the geometry is too easily by passed… asylum. I don’t mind jet pack on tempest, and can tolerate it on powerhouse.

Coaxing a driver to try to run you over and then armor locking at just the right time, watching them explode all around you and then walking off is great fun. I miss elite slayer on Highlands so much for just this reason.

In a game with vehicles, armor lock introduces an element of risk for drivers/pilots that go around trying to run people over. You get that split second of will they/wont they when you are careening toward them in a ghost.

Yeah, it is annoying when people armor lock when you are trying to kill them, it is also annoying when they move behind a rock, run away, dodge/evade your shot or strafe about. I constantly scream at my TV when people do that instead of staying put and dying.

lol no. Evade is no longer an option for Spartans. Or did you miss the March Update that is terri-bad?

I disagree, blocking tubes or roks is akin to losing a DMR duel. Both situations you’ve lost but thanks to AL, you prevent death where you shouldn’t have and just serves to make the game slower and derpy. In my opinion of course.

Actually the Sword was quite OP Zealot, at least when i played with Pharmassist who used the thing to get an exterm though this was on TU.

Not going to lie; I don’t like Jetpack at all because of all the ways you can abuse it and the fact that you really can’t make a balanced map around it. It just takes a dump all over map control, which i don’t like because EVERYONE SPAWNS WITH IT. Wouldn’t be so bad if it was made a pick up.

I would say “Heavies” is the ONE gametype where AL should be available!

Whine whine whine about armor abilities. ADAPT!! Short of 343i making the abilities unlimited, there is nothing wrong with them. Besides, Armor Lock is appropriate for BTB Heavy.

Armor lock belongs in BTB. ESPECIALLY Heavies. What with the extreme chance you’ll run across a vehicle every 10 seconds after you just spawned.
