Just wondering why 343i decided to use metallic bra and -Yoink!- for most armour designs over the standard Spartan Armour?
It looks terrible imo and also makes for any variations difficult to notice.
Also curious why we can’t change shoulders anymore?
On the note of availability I’ve sunk a few hours In to war zone firefight just to unlock armour and to be honest I feel like I’m not working towards anything like in previous titles where I got armour through rank and commendations.
What’s everyone else’s opinion is the armour ok? Do you like it? And do you miss have definite armour unlocks to work towards?
There are some good armors in the game. If you want an armor you have to actually unlock, then join a spartan company and work towards the Achilles armor and helmet.

Because they had to churn out so many armors to fill up the req pool, it probably would have been too much work to make unique shoulders for each set. I mean look at how many armor sets have the same arms and legs.

No, I don’t like almost all of the new armor in Halo 5. There are some good-looking new sets such as Anubis, but they are dwarfed by the amount of bad-looking sets such as Nomad. Unlocking ugly armors that I’ll never use (not to mention loadout combinations that I’ll never use) in almost every req pack sucked a lot of the fun out of the grind

Yes I kind of miss working toward armor unlocks instead of getting them from random packs. It’s nice that we can still work towards emblems, but I doubt most people even know which emblems are unlocked from which commendations. It should list the requirements for the emblems on the collection screen, at least.
I think they focused on the wrong things with the armor. They were in the mindset of creating as much armor as possible as well as having a bunch of variations of that armor which only had minor changes. This led to armor designs that were crap to put it bluntly. I’ll give the artists credit though for being able to come up with all of that.
I think in H6 they should have less armor which means they can focus on better designs, but make it so each piece has a bunch of add-ons similar to what Reach did except each piece would be unique to that armor set. The accessories could be locked behind a variety of things like REQ packs, multiplayer and campaign achievements or by reaching a certain rank to name a few.
Armor differences we got
- Ugly - Round & Chubby - Really pointy - Odly shapped - Trying to be a Fabulous Unicorn…
I think most people have had this criticism for a long time. The art style and design is not really halo esq in general. Hopefully the art style will revert a lot , although I didn’t play halo wars 2 the videos I’ve seen and the blur cutscenes have a hugely better art style. The rumour is that the lead art designer has been given the halo 6 job . If this is true hopefully we will get a better art style overall. Also the fact that the customisation ( or lack of it ) in halo 5 has had a lot of criticism hopefully 343 will put this right in halo 6. Hopefully anyway , traditional they have shown there not very good at implementing things that the community would consider obvious.

Same…
Recruit (preferably charred), War Master, Warrior, Anubis, Athlon, Helioskrill, Operator, Pathfinder, Shinobi, and Tracker are some of the only original armor sets (not made by Bungie) that have been created by 343i that I actually like and believe have an aesthetic that ‘fits’ into the old Halo art style that we know and love. The armor sets used by campaign character’s aren’t listed because they are pretty much guaranteed to be in the next Halo(s).
All the armor looks the same to me when I’m fighting anyway. 99% of the time I couldn’t tell you what armor a guy that I killed/got killed by was wearing.
And I don’t really care to be honest. I’ve said it a hundred times and I’ll keep saying it, I’d prefer we all just wore the same armor and be done with it.

For the most part, that’s a carry-over from Halo 4. The reused gauntlets and greaves were something that Halo 4 did, having a few basic “universal” pieces (Outer-Plated, Inner-Plated, LG-50 Bulk, etc.) with only a couple set-specific designs. Then there’s a few sets that are assigned to Halo 4 helmets that didn’t have unique armor sets, so they reused other pieces from Halo 4.
The armor sets that were originally designed for Halo 5 all have their own unique components.

Yes, but I mean with how the req system works, 343 probably didn’t want to make it so there was one card that unlocked all the separate armor parts.

Not all of them, though.
Ever since I got my Timmy Helmet and a armor that looked like whale skin, I’ve been set ever since. Everything else is just too crowded or too weird for anybody to wear. Cough Seeker Helmet. There doesn’t seem to be any variety.
90% it’s just Wetwork, Fotus and Emile Helmets all the time.

I can’t play a match of WZFF without seeing at least one person wearing Helioskrill and/or a Mark helmet.

Er, um, no, all of them are unique. Every piece that wasn’t just ported from Halo 4 is only assigned to the armor set that it was designed for.

What about Maverick, and Vector, and Cypher? Those all use the same arms and shoulders as Scout

Do they? I suppose I never noticed that.

Yes and I believe those arms were called “Inner-plated” in Halo 4 or something. But yeah, most of the new armors for Halo 5 do have unique parts, which is nice but I still think the req system had a lot to do with Halo 5’s lack of customization options. Hopefully we can change our shoulders and stuff in Halo 6, even if there are generic universal arms and legs. I think Halo 4 did it best.

As true as that is I remember in reach and H4 flicking through players in the game lobby and looking at the different armour sets and variations.
I remember the first time I saw the inheritor helmet in reach and it was aweome truly giving me something to work towards same as h4 but not so much in h5 unfortunately.
