So I’ve had a concern about the customizations for halo infinite ever since we saw the multiplayer trailer and not one spartan had any mixed armour pieces. Then we didnt really get that much information about armour cores how they work, at least that im aware of. If you know anything let us know.
My concern (and still is) was that these armour cores would be sets that would have locked armours to these sets and not be able to mix with other sets/cores. For example, If you have a favourite piece of armour from halo reach lets say a helmet. You go and pick the halo reach core so you can have your helmet but then you can only customize the rest of your spartan with halo reachs armours that would be available for that set/core. You wont have the option to mix with different sets/cores like MK7 with your reach helmet.
The worst thing about this is that it feels like another 343i moment when they said
“We want the spartan to represent the player as much as possible, to express yourself, The body customization content from day one insures we have millions of customization combinations”
And then they go and lock certain pieces of armours into sets call them cores that wont be able to mix and match with other sets/cores peices of armours.
This would be so disappointing
Between picking your colours, player emblems and how you unlock everything. I feeling like why is it like this way. I would love to have my Halo Reach hazop helmet (hope it makes it into infinite) and a MK7 chest peice as well as MK7 shoulders with halo reachs legs. I hope im wrong about this armour peiecs being locked behind cores and we can mix and match what we want because that hows we can express ourselves. Have our spartan be ours and it would make everyone stand out more rather than seeing different/same armours core players because everyone would be limited with options. If we can have all power armours in the game down the line of halo infinite. MK4, MK5, MK5B, MK6 and the new MK7 all peices of armours to be interchangeable ill be very happy.
What do you think
Lets just wait and see they said there will be thousands of combinations so it can’t be that limited. They also said there would only be some limitations. We will soon know anyway

Hopefully the limitations would be with the likes of the Yoroi armour. Id be fine with that having its armour locked in a set/core while having different armours combinations too. Like a different yoroi chest peice or shoulders to pick from in that set/core
This is one of the few recent controversial issues where I actually agree with 343’s decision.
I imagine their intentions were not to restrict customization. Instead, they probably did it so that armor components would fit the core bodies more “snugly” and naturally. Look at the shoulderpads and kneepads in Reach. They kind of just float next to the body since they have to fit with dozens of torso shapes. In Infinite, the artists only have to worry about a pair of shoulder pads being able to conform to the one base model armor core that they belong to.
Additionally, I like that 343 is telling us which armors belong within the same families or cores. For example, it bothers me that I can mix and match Chief’s Mk V helmet with his Mk VI armor in Halo 3, two pieces of equipment that are probably not canonically compatible.

Thats a good point. Suppose lore would make more sense that way. Dont think trying to fit a modern day windshield of a ford mustang to an older model would fit unless modified but it wouldn’t be the same. I’ll be happy with my Reach gear in infinite if thats the case, i can always change it if feel bored.

thousands of combinations isnt really that much, for example halo 5 has 60 primaries and 60 secondaries and thats 3600 combinations halo 3 has 27,000.
hitting the “thousands of combinations” mark doesnt require that much actually.

they confirmed about a month ago this is how they will work and that they might open it up, but that doesnt mean they will open up everything, they could only open up gloves and have done what they said of making “more ways to customize”
