So today for some reason I’ve been thinking about Armour/Combat skins and two questions struck me -
Did the ancient Humans ever have Armour/combat skins ?
I can’t remember there every being a reference to them having so , but …
And after * spoiler alert * Halsey is found on the Forerunner dyson sphere with all those now compliant Engineers/Huragok ( Technology loving creatures who love to tinker and improve ) … Does anyone think that the UNSC/ONI would allow the Engineers to experiment and change the new Spartan 4s Mjolnir Armour itself . Upgrading it even ??
Thoughts please …
we (or at least I and a small group) assume that Ancient humans were naturally identical to spartans due to the assembly pushing so hard for the entire race to be altered with the notion that “ORION was just the beginning”. This is then brought up in GoO when ackerson references that one day the entire populace could be augmented.
Then there is a segment in primordium where the armor of Ancient Man is described and it doesn’t seem anything like power armor even more so since they only wore it during battles. They would have to be on par with the forerunners physically seeing as all battles end up in hand-hand combat.
But yes, the UNSC (now?) has nano technology and soon the armor will be able to fully upgrade itself.

Most Appreciated Deva !!
I thought I’d missed something when I was thinking the question - Did Ancient humans have Armour , but couldn’t recall . I then thought they surely must have to have been on a par with forerunners .
I’ve started a second read through of the forerunner novels now actually , because I don’t like being in a position were I’ve missed something , but hey , I’m human .
I remember that quote from QoO vividly as I thought ’ wow ’ at the time .
So the potential of the Engineers having introduced upgrades to the the 4s Armour I’m guessing you feel is likely too after the events of Glasslands .
What do you think of them super boasting the shielding system to the 4s as I remember they could at least repair the 2s from what happened to John in First Strike .
I can see Johns Armour being ungraded during Halo 4 after he comes into contact with the Infinity. This time being shown ever more visibly in cutscenes ( we know from Reach its possible ) . When he’s first out of Cryo at the start of the game cutscene he’s armour looks battered .
I was just pondering just how far the new compliance from the Engineers would have pushed the Spartans 4s development . It’s been said its lighter than the Spartan 2s . Some assume that means weaker . Nope !
I think even the big man 117 himself may just need a little boost up against those Promethean knights ! Lol .
well seeing as the dozen or so engineers the UNSC should have magically vanished it will be a little bit before we start seeing a wide range of developments. But he should see a few things within the 3 years between halo 3 and 4.
Hey what kind of amour skins do you think is going to be in H4?
Yes the Ancient Human race did in fact wear a battle armor for engagements against their enemies, as for skins I would believe decorations are something that all sentient beings would have.
As for assimilation of the Huragok/Engineers for help in development in the MJOLNIR Armor Variants it is entirely possible, but as far as I know, I don’t believe anything has been mentioned in that area.
Either way these were both really good questions that probably won’t have conclusive answers until we learn more about the Universe itself come Halo 4.
