Even to this day, the debate still rages on about whether Halo: Reach’s armour abilities were game changers or merely an evolution of Halo 3’s equipment system. In terms of direction for Halo 4, 343 Industries’ Creative Director, Josh Holmes, says that with Halo 4 they’re looking to “dramatically reinvent the Halo multiplayer experience” and when it comes to armour abilities, they’re looking to evolve the system Reach introduced. “Our design goal was really to dramatically reinvent the Halo multiplayer experience,” said Holmes, “and do that in a couple of different ways, certainly in ways that impact the core experience – the moment to moment – but also the surrounding experiences in different modes of play that we offer to players.” “Sure, but what about the armour abilities?” I can hear you scream. Fear not, we screamed that too and Holmes noted that what they have in store for Halo 4 is an “evolution” of what you experienced in Halo: Reach. “For us, we really took a hard look at Reach and I think it’s important to note that the way we utilise abilities in this game is very different, much in the way that armour abilities were an evolution of the equipment system in Halo 3. The abilities that we have in our game are an evolution of what we experienced in Reach.”
So what do you think Halo community, Armour Abilities in Halo 4? Yay, ney?
Personally I think 343 looked at Reach and went “Hmmm, Halo Reach didnt do too well, and the AA’s are hated by a lot of the community… I know! Lets put them in Halo 4!”, id just prefer it if Halo just went back to the simpler times of Halo 2 and 3.

Seriously!?! -Yoink- OFF 343! Just don’t even touch the Halo franchise anymore, even giving it to Infinity Ward will be better than the -Yoink- you’re doing with it! -Yoink- OFF! You don’t deserve the Halo franchise.
I think it may be fool hearty to assume that 343 will mess this up, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt whenever possible. Sure some armor abilities are loathed by hardcore gamers, but for every hardcore gamer there was also a casual that loved to armor lock or use some other Ability. What i’m trying to get it is, no matter what they choose to do someone is going to hate it and someone is going to find it fun, all we can do is hope we are on the fun side!
Just because AAs were bad in Reach doesn’t mean that will be same and just like what Holmes said their an evolution. I’m in the otherhand going to wait to get more info about them before I decide if their going to be a bad or good thing for halo.

IMO for AAs as a concept to work they’d have to be limited use map pickups. IMO that’s not even an AA. Therefore it’s safe to say AAs are a bad thing.
For me you’d have to pick up the armour abilities on the map and then they should only have a one time use. So you use the stupid armour gay lock once and then poof it’s gone.
Sprint, Perks, Armour abilities, random weapon respawn time, custom load outs, could the game get any worse? I seriously think them mentioning this stuff without detail, is ridiculous.
They may as well throw back in Bloom, and the OP Reach grenades.
Next they’ll announce that the Scorpion can now fly, and is immune to rocket and laser shots

No, it’s safe to say you have no idea what you’re talking about. That you think AAs can’t be on-map pick-ups doesn’t mean 343i thinks in the same way, derp.
OT, I’m going to take a guess at the angle 343i is going for. You can give your Spartan small tweaks off spawn - carrying an extra clip, rockets lock on faster, weapons switch quicker, minor stuff like that. Armour Abilities, the big game-changers, will be on-map pick-ups. Sprint will be a base trait, not an AA, and will be turned off in some playlists. Armour Lock won’t exist.
They should have just evolved Halo 3 equipment in a different direction. As in keeping it as a pick up on the map.
Oh, and what’s all the fuss about Halo 3’s equipment? People have been calling it a gimmick. What was so gimmicky about it? It actually had some benefits to gameplay and strategy.(Except the Flare, didn’t like the flare _

If that’s the case, AAs aren’t even in the game. Equipment is.
