I realize that Halo 4 is all about the MC (and how happy are we to see his return?), but I also liked how I could personalize my Spartan in the Armory in Reach.
Do you think that there’s any chance that 343 will keep the Armory option (maybe an expanded Armory even? :D)?
I know that we would be playing as the Master Chief in the Campaign, I mean, how could we not?
but for Matchmaking, it would greatly increase the immersion value during game if we could design/outfit our own Spartan again. I personally liked having the other Spartans in Reach, I thought it was great, and made Reach my favorite Halo game (so far) because I could definitely put myself into the shoes of the protagonist, Noble 6.
i would love to see this in Halo 4, at least for the Matchmaking.
I didn’t like the armory. For one, Bungie’s focus was more on quantity than quality. In other words, there were plenty of options, but no really great ones.
Another, I miss completing specific achievements for specific armor pieces. It makes me feel like I earned them rather than went shopping for them.
I say they take Reach’s Armory and update it for Halo 4. 343 can go crazy with new stuff as well, but I feel that our Reach options should be our fallback if we don’t like the new stuff.
Secondly, customization has room for improvement, like that attachment and like that helmet, you should be able to combine the two. Want it on the other side, or pointing the wrong way? why not. Heck, Want that knife on your leg? Go ahead.
But doesn’t that mess-up hit boxes? Just have the bullets go through.
Lastly, I say more attachments, (radios, knives, bags, cameras, and computers) and new coloration options; at least 5 colors and choices as to what part it what. Also, we should be able to choose wear and tear; from old and rusty to brand new, or just polished.
It’s all about the choices we get.
I say no just the armory adding all those stuff it would bound to mess up some pros aiming and whatnot
Just the armory hey could update the armory.
Also anyone also notice MC doesn’t have a -Yoink- piece?
And mostly of all a female selection like in reach

No. I’ve played since the original CE.
I very much liked the changeable armor sets in Halo 3, but even in 3 it seemed like there was so much more potential there than there was.
Reach’s Armory is absolutely great. But I also can see areas where it could be expanded upon and still retain all of the great themes that are unique to a Halo game.
And I agree with an above poster… Another reason I hope that the Armory is there is so that I could possibly change my Armor so it doesn’t have to look like that gods-awful trailer armor.

I think it is going and should be a little different this time around.
Halo: Reach enabled us to customise very widely due to the fact of Noble 6. Noble 6 was you and therefore didn’t have a specific or official ‘appearance’. Halo 4 you will be Masterchief and of course, he does have a specific appearance and I think this should not be able to be change…‘too much’.
Reason I say this is because people like you and me enjoy the ability to customise your avatar or even just an extra feature in the game that is there if you want it. If people don’t want to customise chief or their avatar, they don’t have too. However, for the purpose of the fiction and purpose of appearance, I think the customisation should be somewhat minimal. I’m thinking sublet changes such as armour patches or blinking lights. Basically, nothing that completely changes what Chief is ‘meant’ to look like but enough for you to known you do have some freedom.

If I’m not mistaken, you could only choose the color of your armor in CE and 2.
My only gripe with Reach’s Armory was that the Wrist and Utility options seemed a bit haphazard, since they’re all on the same side. They should have wrist armour apply to both wrists and expand Utilities to include things like bandoliers, but it should definately return.

The Armory technically has been in every title, but each game evolved it in some way.
Halo CE simply let you pick a color for your Spartan.
Halo 2 let you pick a primary and secondary color plus you species
Halo 3 added tertiary color and armor permutations. This was the first proper armory.
ODST gave us character skins.
Halo Reach built on Halo 3’s armory to give use the most customizable Spartans ever, but also took away Elite customization and made the Elites stronger.
Halo 4 should build upon what’s been done and allow as much character customization as possible.
