I am a great supporter of True Skill from Halo 3, it by far is the most effective at separating the good from the bad and also equalizes battlefield of near enough every match you play.
But i have seen people saying about a “progressive ranking system” if you don’t know what that is, its the same -blam!- that was in Reach and is the same -Blam!- that is in CoD.
BUT there is a way the two, True Skill and Progressive Ranking System, can be combined, here is my idea.
Have the True skill system that we all love from Halo 3, with a separate rank system over the top of it that unlocks things in the armory, the way it did in Reach.
^ example:
I play a game of MLG, my team wins and i do well.
I am awarded my 1exp point, and my increase in True Skill rank.
BUT am also awarded “X” amount of “Armory exp” for how well I did during the game.
This would be a situation in a Ranked playlist.
Social only giving the 1exp game win and “x” armory exp, NO True Skill.
With the armory exp it would achieve higher ranks to unlock new helmets, chest pieces, visors etc. You start at recruit and work your way up the ranks until “Master Chief Petty Officer” or w/e (thought it’d be cool)
The True Skill side of things would be untouched from Halo 3, with maybe just a couple of internal tweeks to smooth out performance but all round, 1-50 5,000 exp at 50 = max player rank.
I think it would be good that way.
