From my understanding the armor customization has been changed from most body parts to the helmet and the suit. Why is that?
its the helmet visor and color from what I was told halo 5 has more armor than the other games to compensate for lack of mix and match
No official reason far as I know.
Maybe due to the quantity and quality focus of armor sets as a whole instead of making individual parts? Still seems kind of silly if you ask me.
It was helmet, visor, chest in the beta and the armor still looked good and there was enough variance still.
It happens they just were too lazy to bother so they went the easy way out and just made the suit armor better for every individual armor set. Had they learned from past Halo games they could of at least added in shoulders. So we think anyway it hasn’t been fully revealed anyway so just wait and see.
The req packs and them having issues having certain pieces similar was just the programmers fault and anticipating all these armor combos you can only imagine how long that would take but then again we are buying their game and shouldn’t expect less content than previous installments.
Some would just care less while others would be like yay more armors but then there are those that would be like they traded more customization for more armors that might be ugly. People are already calling some ugly so… I don’t know its a matter of preference.

I would take 100+ armor variants of armor rather than full customization of 30 armor variants any day.
It’s a little disappointing to be honest.

K, have fun wearing 5% of all those armors available.
to me it seems like if they are making new armor they could make it so we can mix and match, that is one of my favorite parts about Halo

They could of but they had better things to worry about. I mean in Halo 4 they finally put a forge world dlc for free after how many months? They made a call so they decided this was best without messing up their vision.
I’m not disappointed with 343i’s decision though I do hope they can add shoulder armor in through a patch somehow some way.
The reason it’s like this is likely to take weight off the designers. With the Req system in place, the regular ~30 armours weren’t going to cut it. They had to have a lot or it’d seem odd. If you allow part swapping, the designers need to compensate, make sure nothing clips together atrociously or looks ridiculous when put together. With just suit, helmet and visor, they can design a lot more variants in the allotted time without worrying about those issues.
All in all, I don’t mind this. We’ve got skins, stances, assassinations and such to compensate, plus nobody I know ever used more than five armours total each. Hopefully we’ll see more variety than the endless stream of Mark VI’s and Recons in past games.
is this is true than I will be very upset. I actually really enjoyed customizing my Spartan and making it look like what I want. It also made it so you didn’t look like everyone else. Can you please give me a source for this.
Well armours are unlocked through req packs and if they had full customization it could take you ages to get a full set of armour youd have to get the helmet in a req pack then you might get shoulder the another shoulder itd just take ages to unlock full sets ecpicially legendary ones!
Personally I’m peeved about this new system, would’ve thought you could customize shoulders/arms.
Now there are loads of armours which I will never wear because I can only have two pieces at a time.

It just seems like they are picking quantity over quality to me
I liked the amount of armour customization Halo Reach had.
The reason is due to Req packs system they’re going with for customization. We all can’t have everything we want all the time. It’s all personal preference anyways. Maybe 343 will add more individual armor pieces with a patch and req cards in the future for you all.

making a whole suit fit together is easy, but making every part of every suit fit together with the every other part of every suit is hard especially considering the number of suits, dropping a helmet on top is easy though and changing visor colour is also easy. this is why. but we now get assassinations and pre/post game poses as well as skins.
As long as the armor sets look nothing like halo 4 armor i have absolutely no problem with it. They should make the really cool armor sets really hard to unlock.
