Armor was clearly designed for core-crossing

The chest, shoulders, knees, and wrists of both MK7 and MK5b were aligned in a way that allows all armor pieces to fit snuggly with minimal clipping, clearly indicating they were designed with cross-core armor compatibility in mind, and yet only the bots are allowed to access this feature?

Clearly there is some yoinkery going on here. I have to believe that locking armors to their specific cores had to be a last minute decision by a higher-up, or else there’s no way they’d ship the game with such an obvious oversight, or even make it possible in the first place.

the biggest piece of evidence I can point to as proof that the cores were designed to share armor pieces, besides the obvious fact that bots can do it just fine, is the the MK7 armor has the very distinctive shape of the reach chest, complete with the 3 alt-color accents, and the ‘shoulder thingies’ that appear on every core are set at the same angle, in the same position, which guarantees that chest armor doesn’t clip into them even when designed for another core

More than the restoration of the feature, I think a lot of people just want answers. Was this a last minute restriction, a true bug that reveals hidden design serendipity, or something the team is withholding so they can add it in later for free good publicity?

Yeah rip i want the old MK6 scout helmet, but at this rate i’ll only be able to have it if they include the mk6 and ONLY ON THE MK 6

Not to mention armor coatings and visor colors. Ugh.

8 dollars for blue.

I don’t know. It’s a shallow design choice that I can’t really blame on anyone but Microsoft.

343 Industries is the in-house studio responsible for developing the game, but only has so much power over how it works and how it makes money as the child company.

They clearly designed this game to have much more freedom but had to rein it back on their overlord’s demand. Why else would they promise so much in December and deliver on so little of it? They have the infrastructure in place…

Cross core customization on the 8th pls

Another thing we gotta fight for. 343 shows that they are ignoring their fans with some things and then highlighting things they don’t mind changing. At this point it’s not a mistake that 343 can get something so simple and do it wrong. It’s all designed and at this point I’m getting tired of it.

I disagree. The wrists are completely different shapes, Yoroi would not work with any chests or the bulkier shoulders of other sets, and when they eventually release other armor that has a different design (such as Mark VI with it’s flatter chest shape) nothing that fits MK VII or Mk V[b] will fit it.

Helmets, coatings, and visor colors should be universal though. As they fit independently of other armor pieces.

And coatings not just cross core. If you have a coating you should be able to stick it on anything coatable. Any armor, any weapon, any vehicle. There’s no excuse for that. And no excuse for covenant and forerunner weapons/vehicles to be uncustomizable.

If you look at the AI they have cross core armours.

Just went and tested the Bracer attachment on the MK7 wrist, it fits over it without any clipping at all, and with no overhang too. Perfect fit.

Yoroi armor was obviously not made with the same design considerations, but MK7 and MK5 were clearly designed to be interchangeable

and just to prove my point, the waypoint app glitch that allows you to view armor pieces on the wrong core also makes corrections to some armor pieces that makes them fit better. For instance, the SAP/MT and SAP/SNP shoulders both flip to fit better with their positions on MK7, despite not being allowed. It’s pretty obvious at least these two cores were made to be interchangeable.

Scout was leaked, although it’s the H4/5 scout, not the one with the weird lip from 3.

Yeah, what a shame i really like the mK6 customizations in h3

There will undoubtedly be a Mark VI core in an upcoming season. It’d be silly for them not to take advantage of the hype that would attract.

Yeah with a battlepass locking most of the customization out, if they don’t remove that…
