Armor Skins (pictures!)

So we’ve all seen pictures and videos of the Halo 4 gameplay, but like me, I doubt many of you looked at them with armor skins in mind. (Armor skins were confirmed in the 5.16.12 Bulletin, saying the Limited Edition set comes with an unique in-game Spartan-IV armor skin.)

Notice in the gameplay picture the Spartans have stripes, but Simmons and Grif are solid. These are some obvious examples of the new armor skins. Other armor skins are likely just other arrangements of stripes, different designs, various colors, etc. I’m thinking the default is either blank or the stripes in the gameplay picture, because all those players have it.

Nothing groundbreaking, but it was a mini-revelation to me when I saw this photo again after hearing about armor skins.

Not a bad idea, that would be pretty cool actually.

This is what I thought. Maybe you can change the colours just like the Armour Detail in Halo 3.

I was starting to think the stripes and the white color had something to do with the armor maybe even rank. This would be a cool idea, just I hope we can change the actual armor because in my own opinion, I don’t like the Spartan IV armor so far.

Still looks like a kangaroo.

That’s possible, but I’m thinking by “armour skins” they meant armour set.

I have a feeling there will be more than primary and secondary colours…

HA!
Never would have thought that if I hadn’t read this post. Now it’s all I see.

I know, right?

Would really like to start seeing variants for the spartan-IV’s armor.

Armor skins?

Sounds great!

Likely customizeable.

Notice how rooster teeth didnt have them on?

New armor abilitie in the pic

I’m pretty sure by armor skin they mean the design or “paint job” on the armor.

There will still be armor permutations, like choosing your helmet, chest, shoulders, etc. which is what I assume you mean by “armor set.”

Armor abilities are things like active camo, hologram, jetpack, etc.

It does get kinda confusing though. lol.

Yeah, I did. There must be an option for no design. That may be the default, IDK. It’s definitely customizable though.

Maybe. That would be pretty cool.

lol I’m going to ignore this because if I look at it I won’t be able to un-see it.

The word “skin” and “permutation” are easily exchangeable though, and giving us a complete armour set or permutation seems a lot more in line with what you’d expect in a Limited Edition than a paint job.

Alas, you may be right, we’ll find out more about this as we get closer to release.

In the 5.16.12 Bulletin, they released this information:

"The Limited Edition includes the following bonus digital content through Xbox LIVE: unique in-game Spartan-IV armor skin, unique in-game weapon skin for the Assault Rifle, an exclusive in-game emblem, Xbox LIVE Avatar prop, and Xbox LIVE Avatar Spartan IV armor set."

Both the Spartan IV armor and the Assault Rifle will have “skins.” Really, this can’t mean anything other than a “paint job.” Like the gun camos in CoD or GoW.

Another give-away is that the Spartan IVs in the picture I linked have stripes. The Spartans in the Red v. Blue promo video about remembering the release date did not have stripes. Must be armor skins.

Sorry, I don’t mean to sound like I’m arguing. I’m just stating the facts.

the white stripes is the secondary color not armor skin

Good find. It reminds me of the armor detail in Halo 3. I hope you can disable the stripes, though, because sometimes they get annoying. For example, your S-IV has custom green armor on, so in game the stripes would be green while your armor is either Red or Blue, which to me would be a bother.

Lol what the hell is happening to the blue spartan in the back to the left? Looks like some crazy headspin or handstand.

It might be armor skins, but I thin it is more likely that they brought back armor detail. But this time they let you choose what kind of armor detail you want to put.

Screenshot or it didn’t happen. And that TOTALLY happened all up in his face and stuph…
