Armor question

With all the armor customization given to our spartans. One of the armor sets I didn’t expect to see until I unlocked it and the arcadia version was mk iv.
Is there a canonical reason for the spartans using old armor? I’m extremely curious and looking for any answer I can get.

For most of the archaic armour being used, the general explanation is that the armour itself was rather good, so it was updated for GEN 2 Mjolnir systems like upgraded HUD, energy shields, Spartan Abilities, etc.

That’s awesome! I forgot to think of that. Didn’t they do that for the mk vi’s?? Like blue team’s armor? They are using old armor, but it was modified to be able to react to modern scenarios.

I can’t recall as I’m not near my Xbox at the moment, but that could be the case. The UNSC/ONI are fairly intuitive and quick to adapt, so it makes sense for them to modernise a lot of their older stuff rather than scrapping it and starting again.

That makes sense. Thank you!

No worries

Part of the fun of the armor lore, is we get to make it up.

For the most part spartans have taken a likeing to them due to there retro and classic feel, as well as there functionality.

With the created rising up, there is also a demand for these because new armors can’t be properly made, so they have to gather up old stuff to use for a variety of different reasons (ie. Broken armours needing repairs, new recruits, etc)

That is cool!
I can see your point. If a theatre of war wasn’t going real well, the UNSC might go back to older variants because it is probably cheaper to repair and update older suits than to create new ones.
Thank you!
