armor protection customization

so ive been thinking of new innovative features i would like to see in halo 4 and heres a good one; how about make armor more than just an asthetic thing? this has long annoyed me with halo.

i propose giving each piece of armor a protection value, and the more protection your spartan has, the less damage he takes. however, players can go light if they prefer, moving faster and jumping higher than there slow heavy counterparts.

it would open up interesting new team strategy too. the heavily armored players can draw fire tactically and end up surviving while the lighter players move quick into position and provide support. things such as this!

i hope this idea is considered, i believe it could make halo 4 more interesting!

I a trying to figure out why this hasn’t been in Halo ever since I saw customizable armour in Halo 3.

I’d rather look good and keep the game consistent than look ugly and make the game random.

Imo, you would probably get more people crying how broken, unbalanced and untraditional it would make the gameplay more than you would find people supporting the idea. People do not like change and personally, this idea seems to highlight the transition of Halo even further from an arena-styled shooter to a class-based shooter.

It might be fun in a different game to have elements like this but it just wouldn’t sit right in Halo.

Nope.

Here’s another idea.

Instead of throwing in idea after idea that change gameplay from “who’s the better player” to “who’s got the better equipment”, why not propose an entirely new Halo spin-off game?

I’m pretty sure a Halo-Battlefield clone where you could play as grunts, jackals, hunters on big scale maps with destructible environment and a huge amount of players in squads would be a great game, but why do we need to make the main series just that?

I too have had thoughts about armors having different attributes, but I quickly decided not to pursue that thought as it would bring players further from that balanced start, but hey, we’re allready down that track.

If this idea was implemented, we are only a few steps away from having a Halo RPG/Arena/Classbased shooter.

It’s all doable, but I would rather have a game designed around the features than have a game with so many features that the game is a mess with no consistensy.

I’m all for a Halo/Assassin’s Creed game, as long as it is its own stand alone game.

I’m all for a Halo/Battlefield game, as long as it is its own stand alone game.

So, I am all for armors having attributes such as protection values, weight and so on, but I would like it in a game that is a stand alone game made to fit those features, and more features that work around each other.

Here’s what I don’t like, the highlighted part.

These assumptions come from the backlash the community has delivered on the overall massive changes that have changed Halo.

Nobody here dislike change, well, most do not dislike change, it’s what and how something changed that’s the problem.

Would you say the same thing if the main Halo series changed into a GoW/RTS/MOBA clone? People dislike change?

No, this assumption that people dislike change comes from us living to the real world, not just from the backlash that people have had for Halo 4. I never implied it was a bad assumption like you’re making it out to be. People fear change because the results are unknown to us and our norm has been disrupted. Of course, what you are saying as well that people can take change, is an assumption just like what I’m stating.

Horrible idea, just imagine this scenario:

Halo 5 comes out with this idea implemented but sadly you get the game a week late.

You finally hop into Matchmaking a week into the game and you’re getting destroyed by people who have all this protection on their armour because they’ve played longer.

Halo doesn’t need this, in Halo 4 we barely start off on an even playing field, we don’t need that to continue declining in future games.

This E.O.D. helmet is meant to reduce the risk of decapitation. In recent memory, no one’s head has come flying off in any matchmaking games I’ve played.
I don’t wear it because I want to keep my head on my shoulders (but it’s nice that it stays there), but because it looks cool imo. Keep it aesthetic.
