Assuming that fall damage is returning (we can’t ultimately know for sure until we play the finished game) I had an idea for an armor mod. Essentially, the mod grants the player immunity to fall damage. Or, as an alternative, the mod only negates 50% of fall damage, or any other percentage that would prove more suitable. What would you think of a fall damage negation mod in Halo 4? Too OP? Not worth using?
I think that fall damage should be removed all together. Or it could be reduced by some armor piece. (Boots)
Fall damage is returning.
And yeah, this would be a great specialisation for people who hate fall damage.
> this would be a great specialisation for people who hate fall damage.
I honestly think not many people will use it. It’s not a bad idea though. Basically, it’s a no for me.
They should just take it out all together. It’s a bad game mechanic and there aren’t even many falls on Halo maps that could hurt a normal human being, much less a Spartan.
No, it would be too unfair.
If you have a map like Spire (example), the person can just jump of the Spire and he would be safe because nobody, unless they have the mod as well, can chase him…

You can land safely on Spire without any help…

He said, a specialisation that reduces fall damage by something like 50%. Maybe even more, but you’d never survive a drop like the Spire’s.

Fall damage should definitely not be removed. It encourages map movement, people can’t just jump off the edge down one hundred metres, people can’t jump out of an air vehicle that is heavily damaged, people have to save jet pack ‘juice’, and so much more.
Fall damage is essential. Why do people want it removed?!

It’s an example…
I meant to say that you shouldn’t have a huge advantage like that over somebody else.
The Spire was just the first thing I thought of with a big hight.

Again, look at the word ‘example’…
I just mean you shouldn’t be able to survive a huge fall if another person can’t.
I say yes, but less than 50%. Maybe 25% or 305 at most, as to make it less drastic of a modification and balanced with the rest.

And you shouldn’t be able to regenerate your shields if another person can’t. But specialisations are in Halo 4. If somebody picks this specialisation, they’d be missing out on another.
343i said that fall damage is returning, but it isn’t as bad as Reach’s fall damage.
Since I don’t know from which height you get damage, I can’t say if this is needed.
But it is okay in my opinion.

I’d say the past has the answer to that.
Many people would like the game to be as similar as possible to past Halo games.
I would prefer that they enable the thruster pack to be used (holding forward and using the AA) and it would fire mostly counter-acting the downward velocity, but adding a small amount of forward velocity. This would slow the spartan considerably (but not entirely), then as the spartan lands with a little bit of forward velocity he would go into a roll. This would all be done in the time it takes for a normal thruster pack or a little bit longer. GOGO spartan free-running. It would work well as last I heard, thruster pack goes into 3rd person.
This would make thruster pack fill this role, and add usefulness to it.
