You are currently giving updates to the MCC, but what about the current Halo title?
I am specifically asking about the Spartan Armory. Halo 5 is the sequel to Halo 4, which means that it should be a version further upgraded from what we saw in Halo 4.
However, in Halo 4, you could mix-&-match parts from each armor set available in game. But in Halo 5, you can only select your helmet and full body set. Should players be allowed an extended version of the customization we saw in Halo 4 to be allowed in Halo 5? And if not Halo 5, could they at least be put into the sequel : Halo 6?
I have a recommended form of customization that will allow players to customize their Spartan armor in an upgraded fashion to what we had experienced in Halo 4.
-
Select Helmet - Select Visor Color & Visor Gloss (Visor Gloss will choose how the Visor reacts to light. The Pilot Gen I and Nightfall helmets are fully polished to a shine, while the remainder of Spartan Helmets feature a more glazed reflection pattern. Or even have it glow like in the Halo 5 campaign for Fireteam Osiris.) - Select Torso - Select L. Shoulder - Select R. Shoulder - NOTE : Armors with Asymmetrical Shoulders should allow players to select from each shoulder as they choose. Example : I can equip the Left Shoulder from the “Mark IV” armor on both shoulders should I choose to do so, and vice versa. - Select Gauntlets - Select Legs - Select Spartan Voice (This would offer players a similar experience to Halo Reach’s Firefight Voices.) - Select Armor Primary Color, Secondary Color, and Tertiary Color (Tertiary color would be the extra white color on the armor that is not changed by altering the armor’s colorization in the current version of Halo 5.) - Select Exo-Suit Primary Color & Secondary Color (The argument of colored Exo-Suits against full black Exo-Suits will be settled with a simple option up to the players to select their Exo-Suit’s colorization. This will not be affected by team colors.) Also, possibly let the players select from a few alternative Exo-Suits, as we have seen that the Gen I armors are available in pieces and that Spartan Locke has a different Exo-Suit from the rest of the Spartan IVs.I also have a few recommendations for additions to the player customization, as listed below :
-
An alternate version of the Scanner Helmet, which does not feature the forehead attachment. - The remainder of the Gen I helmets that have not been featured in Halo 5, be included into the game. I.E. : HAZOP, Haunted Pilot, GUNGNIR, JFO, CQC, Halo Reach Mark V, Mark V**,** Halo 3 Rogue, and possibly the cut Halo Reach Helmet : GRD.
-
Include armors that resemble the Gen I variants of armor we had seen in Halo 3 and Halo Reach, but as Gen II interpretations of armors. Such as CQB from Halo 3, and Military Police from Halo Reach. - Possibly recycle old designs of armors for use in multiplayer. Such as Halo 5’s Beta design of Nightfall. - Bring the armors from Halo Online and Halo 2: Anniversary to the multiplayer roster. However, due to Fredric’s armor being called Centurion, I recommend that Halo 2 Anniversary’s Centurion armor be renamed to “Vexillarius”, and Halo Online’s Hoplite armor be renamed to “Legate”; to still resemble Spartan Ranks from Greece. Also, bring the DLC armors we saw in Halo 4 (Mark V, ODST, Prefect, and Ricochet) into the game. After all, most of the work has already been done; they would just need a few touchups of improvement. - Please, give us Hayabusa Gen II armor. We already know that the render exists. It shouldn’t be too hard to include. - Include Spartan Stances from Halo 4, as well as the assassination animations we had enjoyed in Halo Reach and Halo 4. Possibly even include assassinations that are epic, comedic, or references. Such as the iconic Force Choke, acting like a mime to lasso a noose around your victim and hang them, or play a game of rock paper scissors and the loser takes a bullet from your sidearm. - Allow assassinations to have a preferred camera angle, allowing players to have traditional third person POV, attacker POV, victim POV, and a cinematic POV. - The return of the classic emblem style and designs. Sure, keep the Halo 5 emblems, but those are more for Playercards than for personalized logos. - It would also be pretty cool to include SPI Spartan III armors, both Gen I and Gen II, but not let them actually turn the Spartans invisible. That would be a bit OP. - With the halo Fandom being creative, it may be pretty neat to have some armor sets that fans have designed be replicated by the Dev Team in game. A good example would be Tekka-Croe : an artist on DeviantArt that made a pretty good version of ODST Gen II armor before the Halo 4 DLC.Again, this is just my recommendations for what should be done to better improve the player’s choices for customization of their Spartan and their Spartan Profile. And if they are not to be integrated into Halo 5, at least Halo 6 could have this layout and content to better improve the fans’ desire for customization. I know most of this is wishful thinking, but still; sequels should improve on the former. Yes, Halo 5 boasted more armor sets, but gave less in terms of actual customization through mix-&-match.
Thoughts on the matter anyone?
While I like it, this system being incorporated into the REQ system is going to be a nightmare. Wading through not just armor reskins, but now shoulders, gauntlets, legs… the grind is long enough as is.
The REQ system would need an overhaul, which is unlikely to come.

In that case, it’s better to take this idea to the H6 wishlists. Links in my signature.
I think I have a solution to all of OP’s problems.
Remove customization altogether. I’m okay with that.
Let’s do that.

No. That would make many people mad. Especially since customization allows you to personalize your character, making it easier to find your buddies in multiplayer at a distance. Not everyone does callouts mind you.

Yeah cause I can see my friend’s Oceanic helmet from across the map. Spartan tags accomplish that. Nobody complained about it in CE or H2, why do people make such a big deal about dress-up.
It’s incredibly unnecessary. While you’re in a CQC fight do you really think “wow that guy’s Fotus helmet is so -Yoinking!- cool”
You don’t. When you fight, you see Red vs. Blue.

But dude, the REQ system makes it so you have to unlock a helmet or a full body set. In the sequel, should they continue the system, it would be easier to unlock a full armor set underneath a single REQ card. Then you can choose to utilize parts from that entire set. Not to mention, if you read my list above, if they were to include EVERY armor from Halo 4, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo Online, Halo 5, New Armors, & Recreations of Gen I armors, that means nearly 350 armor sets alone. Then when you add in paintjobs as their own individual REQ Rewards, it would extend that much further in terms of available unlocks. It would be nice to unlock a Default set by leveling up, and alternate paintjobs could be unlocked via REQs.

it is also about the individuality of the game. Many players want to work in order unlock the customizables to fit their personality and make them look badass. Yes it is aesthetics, but so what? Many people care about that in their games.
I always hope for more customization, but this is something that is never gonna happen in H5. At best, it will be in H6.
That would be neat. It’s like an upgraded edition of Reach’s armory

My real question is why. Does your unicorn helmet make you feel more badass than a Mark V helmet? Do you immediately understand my personality because I’m wearing the same armor as 1,000 other people? Am I suddenly unique because my armor and helmet don’t match? WOW! That guy is using Mark V helmet with Mark IV armor. I bet he’s CRAZY in real life. Come on. Customization does nothing but waste time and resources within the game.

I don’t know about others, but I’m not trying to impress other people. I like playing dress up with my Spartan because I want to look cool and feel unique for my own satisfaction even if thousands of other people are using the same combination. If others think I look like a badass, then that’s just an added bonus.

You really sit there and think “I bet that guy saw how cool I looked when I killed him”
You want to “look cool” for the guy who is going to see you for 6 seconds and forget about you in the next 2?
Your skill or playstyle can’t make you “unique”? You need armor for that?
Come on.

Shhhhhhhhhh. Let people enjoy things.
Armor customization is cool, and you know, not everybody only plays Halo for Matchmaking. There’s many custom games where you get to see other armor pretty close. You get to see your armor when you’re in a Vehicle or using a Turret. You get to enjoy how you look while you lie dead on the ground. And there’s also many people who make Machinima, and often rely on customization for that. Just because you don’t care for something doesn’t mean a huge part of the community agrees with you.

I never said anybody agreed with me. I know for a fact most people don’t agree with me.
I’m just stating my opinion. I hate armor customization, always have. I think it’s stupid. You think about it realistically (I’m fully aware Halo is science fiction), you would never want to differentiate yourself. You make yourself a target that way.

No.
No, I want to look cool for myself. If someone else happens to notice my armor in the game or postgame lobby and thinks that, then that’s cool as well. If no one does, then that doesn’t bother me one bit.
Yes, playstyle can make you unique. I want to feel unique with armor because I can. If I don’t have to be a clone Master Chief like it was in CE multiplayer, then I’m not going to be.

But if we were to implement this, there’s a pretty good chance 343, being a corporation, will try to capitalize on it by padding the microtransactions and leaving the armor sets as seperate pieces.
While I love 343’s works, I don’t see them as above greed.

If 343i got rid of all those skins which in my opinion…just look pretty bad on some (especially the more “Rarer” variants) but I’d love to go back to the Reach way of customization but as it’s not Bungie and companies are going to abuse the loot crate scandal till (Hopefully) it is taking action and fingers crossed gone from paid games.

That will sadly not happen. A business is to make money. Micro-transactions are WAY more profitable than DLC packs. Not to mention, Halo 4’s paintjobs were obviously superior to Halo 5, simply because you didn’t have random spots of color that would not change no matter what you applied. Heck, some armors just have a large percentage of white on them, like one of the Noble Variants.
