So I’ve seen some speculation on how the armor unlock system will work. Some people are wanting it to be from crates while more old-time players (like myself) would rather see something similar to halo 3 where you have maybe one or two basic armor sets unlocked and you can earn the rest by leveling up or unlocking achievements. What would y’all prefer? Maybe a balance between them could be good

It’s basically a given that some sort of loot based mechanic will be in Infinite, they made too much money on the req system to just ignore it. I’m hoping they have basic armors and such in there, but for a more distinguished or more renown armor (such as hyabusa or Eva) to have to be unlocked through skill and achievements.
Well I think having 3 ways or more to unlock armor would be ideal, to keep players engaged by doing things.
Leveling
Commendations
Achievements
RNG Packs
Direct Purchase from in game shop
Leveling has a set selection of armor, like Halo 4.
Commendations are also set like Halo 4, however these are the same ones you get through leveling up, so you can work for something or wait until you get it at a specific level. (See Doom 2016)
Achievements sets are exclusive to them, like Halo 4’s MK 6, or Halo 3’s EVA. You can’t get these anywhere else without completing achievements.
RNG Packs work like Halo 5, as they hold mostly skins, and some meh looking armor. Nothing too special here.
Finally a shop which works just like Reach. However, by completing commendations, achievements, and getting to certain levels, more items unlock for purchase. You could bypass commendation rewards with a ton of credits if you’re lazy, or work to reap the harvest. Here would be skins, emblems, stances, assassinations, etc.
Armor needs to mean something again. To show off your accomplishments to others. Not trying to look good in a sea of colored suits.
