I’m sure the rim lighting is for competitive reasons.

Does Counter-Strike have even half the rim lighting that this game has? Nope.
Shield emitters and basic lighting are more than enough to illuminate spartans in the dark, which is never a problem in the arena with our team colors.
instead of armour lighting, what about armour with lights

Helmets from Halo 4 no longer have the emissive white lights that they had. Would be nice to see those versions return.

it was just a meme
See!? That’s the problem with the armor (minus the design of some and the undersuits)! It’s not that the graphics make the armors look shiny or plastic, it’s the lighting!!!
Thank you for making this thread. In all honesty, the lighting in the halo 5 beta was near PERFECT imo. None of the armor looked shiny or glossy. Only thing we can do now is to keep this thread going until it gets more attention.

Having no rim lighting was good in the beta. However, the complete lack of gloss would irritate me. I’d like it to look somewhere in-between the beta, and this overly glossy look.
It looks really bad and it’s a problem bungie solved a long time ago. Emissive lights on armor was a much nicer way to solve the problem.
I mean hell, Gears of War still does it.
