This is about the armor kits available for purchase in the game shop. The HGS kits specifically and how their pieces and coatings should be used independently of the kit.
These kits function as a set that has no room for customization at all. This is not disclosed anywhere on the page when purchasing them. Any other game would have this be a bundle. Armor pieces, a visor, the armor coating, the emblem, etc.
Infinite however limits this kit to just itself. I purchased the HGS Envy kit hoping that I could use the only black primary blue secondary coating in the game for my spartan. But alas, I can’t without being forced to wear mark VII armor and having the envy emblem.
Anothe point to make, is the HGS Winter kit. It is currently being given away for free and the coating can be used across all cores and armor pieces, while the other HGS kits that cost $10 are heavily limited.
As evident by the free HGS Winter kit, the other $10 kits, at the very least their coatings, should be usable across all cores and armor pieces.
Aside from that, I am having a blast with the game so far. Not to sound rude or demanding, but this doesn’t seem like that drastic of a change to make and would honestly encourage people to buy these $10 kits more if their coatings were usable universally.
I was really disappointed after buying one and then learning that it’s one complete set and you can’t use any of the different elements that make up the set independantly.
I raised a support request with both Halo Support and Xbox Support to ask if I could refund my purchase as I hadn’t used it.
Xbox just closed the support ticket without a response.
Halo Support said they can’t do it and suggested I post on the forums about it if I wanted to give feedback.
Before anyone says it, I know, buyer beware, it was my mistake, one I won’t make again but I honestly don’t think the store page clearly states the restrictions and I really think 343 could and should do a better job of communicating that via the store.
The thing that really gets under my skin is that they proved that these coatings can work universally with the HGS Winter kit. The one you get for free has more use than one that costs $10
Yeah, this armour kit system makes no sense, really wanted to use that faze coating on my reach spartan but thats too much player freedom for a 343i game
Made the restrictions clearer and offered to refund the Halo credits for those that purchased pre it being made clearer
It would be nice to see the eSports teams themselves suggesting such things as well, I’m assuming they had no say but as a result it does impact their brand, I bought the Cloud9 kit and now when I think of Cloud9 I think “oh yeah I paid money for a worthless Cloud9 skin, I don’t like them”.
