Armor in Halo 4 and 5 is boring

Does anyone else think that the armor options in these games is just… meh? Like none of the helmets stand out at all or even look good? Say what you will about Reach, but I loved that game, and it had some really cool armor to choose from. And Halo 3 had the BEST Recon. I would say that Halo 3 also had Hayabusa, but it wasn’t long before everyone had it and it wasn’t special anymore. Does anyone here actually like the new armor?

Theyre all good except soldier

I agree that soldier is one of the worst helmets in existence.

Halo 3’s armour looked too… Bulgy for my liking. Plus it was kind of unrealistic. I mean, some of them are downright stupid, Security and EVA being my main hates. Reach’s armour was cool, but not so futuristic. It was more in line with things you see nowadays. H4 had unrealistic armour again, but more streamlined, which I liked, even if the Spartans were slightly skinny. H5 seems to have gotten rid of the weird ones from H4, bulked them all up just a tiny bit, and darkened the coulour palette, which looks great. So, yes, I like it.
Plus, Centurion is just auuaaaagh.

They look good. the only one I think looks a bit weird it the one that is in most of the H5 promotion videos and pictures e.g the picture that was on the tile for the H5:G beta

Who cares about realism, dude? This game is in the sci-fi genre. :stuck_out_tongue:

And I agree that Halo 5’s armor does look better than 4’s. BTW, what do you like about Centurion so much? It doesn’t seem like all that to me. Although if it isn’t readily apparent to me now I doubt I’ll ever see what you see.

Halo reach has the most generic, non risk taking armor with very general basic shapes ad opposed to 4. Most of Reach’s looked better, but it was absolutely more boring. Look at the scout in reach, they took this nice angular pointy helmet and made it a sphere with flat sections and general curves, this goes for the recon as well. Look at 3 recon, it has a weird shape with a sort of mohawk bit on top that raises more than the other parts, now look at reach, it literally made it a sphere, the black part on the front is the same depth as the surrounding armor, no mohawk, etc. Now look at the 4 recon, I think they took it a little far, but they took risks to give it a neat angular and pointy shape with large side bits. The locus, deadeye, and scanner showed they were willing to be interesting with their designs. Also, soldier looks rad dude, thin visors and large side panels are the best, lockes helmet also has those two things.

I still think that Reach had the largest number of cool armor sets, even many of them weren’t very interesting. In Halo 4 none, and I mean literally none of the armor stood out and made me go “Ooh, look at that one, dude! I want that one so bad!” or even just “Hey, that one looks kinda cool.”

Sci-Fi can be realistic or unrealistic. Look at something like Destiny versus an Iain Banks novel. I like Halo as it is now, being semi-realistic, but not enough to make it boring.
As for Centurion, I just really like the visor, and the wiring on the back. It looks like a great meld of the good bits of both old and new.

The ALpha armor looked better when it was shiny

Yeah the armor in reach looked a lot better Halo 4 has like maybe 3 sets I like and that it.

I went like that for soldier, locus, scanner, deadeye, gungnir, mkv, and the odst body armor just to name a few.

I farmed so much Gruntpocalypse for cR to buy some of the sweet armor in Reach. Granted, I hardly played Halo 4 but looking at the armor sets over on Halo Nation, there’s nothing there I find particularly compelling. Halo 5, especially if they limit to helmets, bodies, and visors, makes me think more of Halo 4 than Reach.
