My Google-Fu is coming up with nothing but beta stuff, does anyone know if there is any way to unlock armor, helmets, or visors that does not include opening REQ packs?

Nope. You can get some from playing MCC. But the Rest is from silver and Gold pack. Got to play to get to buy the packs. Takes 2-3 matches to get a silver
There are probably some that are included as rewards for certain commendations (which are also packs technically) although I can’t confirm this
