Alright, so we all know what armor effects are. There was the flaming helmet, the blue flaming helmet, pestilence, the lightning and thunder, the hearts…they were kind of fun, but what if they were less silly and more gritty?
I mean things like:
A cracked visor
Dirt/mud on the legs
Human blood (not a lot) on the arms and legs
Elite blood (not a lot) on the arms and legs
Grunt blood on the arms and legs
Damaged armor
Thanks to Swift 806 for these:
Scratches
Peeling off armor-paint.
and any other ideas you can come up with.
Would you like to see them make a comeback?
Firstly, I think Armor Effects is not the right term for your suggestions.
What you suggested is more like an option that gives your armor an ‘used-look’ instead of making your Spartan a gimmick like the Armor Effects did in Reach.
Nevertheless, I like your idea but why did you suggested human blood?
To your list I would like to add scratches and peeling-off colors.

The human blood thing, I thought people might think of that as “cooler” or whatever, especially in multiplayer. I’ll have to add your ideas. Much obliged.

I’m glad that you like them and thanks for adding them to your list.
Well, the only thing that slightly bothers me with human blood is that it would make no sense in canon in my opinion because actually we do not kill humans in the game, with exception of multiplayer and even there it is just a simulation now.

True, but then we have to wonder about the effects in Reach…especially the skull helmet (when Noble 6 is looking into his helmet at the beginning you can see the bottom of the skull)
Now this I can get by, as opposed to Reach’s ridiculously annoying-looking armor effects.

But Reach’s Armor Effects were simply ridiculous gimmicks, as opposed to your suggestions with which you could make your Spartan look as if he comes fresh out of hell (the battlefield) or has been rouge for a long time for example. So you could simply ‘put’ some kind of story on your Spartan’s armor.
Plasma burns going up part of the torso and left arms. This would fall into battle damage, but hey, we fight enemies with plasma tech.
How about an effect that actually takes pieces of your armor off when being shot at but doesn’t change the players health or damage. The black inline suit could take damage also, revealing skin.
I would love to see Armor Effects return. I have to add, I love the custom list you made, OP. I would love to have Scratched/Damaged Armor. Hopefully Inclement Weather returns in the next title.
how abotu rusted armor or Knife wounds
Also we need a silly one in there some where.
Maybe a top hat one.

Now that you mentioned Silly, their should be a " Comic Troll Helmet". But then again, it would be pretty odd.
BTW, if there is one AE that should definitely return its either the Flaming Helmet or the Grunt Birthday
cracked visor would be pretty epic, as well as battle-damaged armor
