I’m also peeved at this. I love my Halo 3 spartan, same with my Halo 4 one. And to replace a very good feature, and a main one at that, with “armor sets” is just a poor decision. I really hope a patch fixes this, because frankly Halo just isn’t Halo without it.

At least we get to choose our helmet and body in Halo 5. But even that is a step behind Halo 3, where you could customize both shoulders, head, and torso. And Halo 4 had the most, Head, Visor, Arms, Legs, Torso.
Seems like we’re just going backwards.

Depending on how big customization is for you. For a lot of us, yes. That is bad. Especially when that’s how they were on their home console, only to be changed to a terrible new way.

How would gutting out customization be a decent idea, period? You’re removing freedom that once was there, for no reason at all.

Calling “technical limitations” or some other excuse. Then explain how the 360 was able to do it perfectly? It wouldn’t even increase the size at all. Most likely it’s all there anyway, just locked behind “sets”
They better give us customization back. I always used to change my character’s armor around in between matches. Plus, it’s just more fun to fight against people with mixed armor types. Halo 3, 4, and Reach all had customizable armor, I don’t see why the definitive collection of the Master Chief games can’t.

I agree with what a lot of players are saying here.
By no means this is game breaking, however part of the fun of Halo 3 and Halo 4 was customizing our armor my mix-matching sets. It made players feel unique and it feels a bit short handed when we were being told that the games will be just like we remembered them.
Again, nothing game-breaking, but it does not 100% feel like we got what was advertised.
I miss my Halo 3 Spartan with the ODST helmet, Recon Shoulders and Katana.

Yeah I hate the fact I cant even wear my ODST armor for H4.
I’ve always been a fan of customization in games. I loved mixing up armor in the Halo games since it’s introduction. The bottom line is 343i said the games’ content and features would be as they were at the original releases. I can’t help but feel lied to, but I’m hoping the customization, tweaked emblem placement, Halo 4’s dlc armor, and even Halo CEA’s kinect library are added in with Spartan Ops when we get it.
Amour set aren’t that bad provided there good one.
They’d better fix it. The armor customization in Halo 3 and Halo 4 is awful; why the hell did they take away all the options we had on the Xbox 360 versions? It doesn’t make any sense…
I just don’t understand how they can take so many aesthetic steps BACKWARD from a series that has been out for over a decade. Not only is the UI in this game frustrating to navigate if you actually do anything more than simply going to multiplayer (which is also experiencing issues on the servers-end), but you also have less customization than any Halo gam to the point where you can’t even preview your own Spartan.
I don’t understand how their development team even let so many basic elements of the Halo series pass or slip through the testing phase. I guess them having people who actually don’t even like Halo could have something to do with that.
The future. The future is the key to all of our issues.
We need to start a petition to fix this, we need these things for our sense of identity. remember when flaming recon was so great? remember FINALLY getting mark six in halo: reach and looking like a total BA with the inclement weather? (the thing we spent TWO MILLION credits on) Remember that day when Bungie gave everyone flaming heads? Everyone and their GRANDMA was on to get it for those few days just to get it taken away when it was finished. A big part of was the ability to show you had skill to look like THE black knight with simple emblem and armor pieces, plus your own color to show that you aren’t a “newb” with only default armor and needed a good te-bagging by everyone to be taught a lesson. This in my opinion was the essence of halo 3, I didn’t even play it for RANK I played it because it was fun and not just for grinding or ‘just something to work on’ which most games are made entirely of now, all rank meant was that you played many, many games and did good on them. I remember a whole community of people who would do unspeakable things for recon still.
A second thing that grinds my gears is that we are ALL given the hardest to reach rewards just because we bought the game. Which reminds me didn’t you have to pay for an ENTIRE console just for Phobos in halo 4? isn’t that supposed to show your love and devotion to halo? we should need to unlock and PREVIEW these things in full 3D (which shouldn’t be to hard! (actually it would be VERY easy.)) A good example would be bungie’s flaming head unlocked at the completion of halo 3 LASO. Also I feel as if i wasted money on their champions pack dlc because I can’t seem to find the armor ANYWHERE in game, but I can find the maps…
Lastly if 343 thinks they can get away with this, then your D### straight up right about it because 343 owns Halo and if they want Spartans and elites dressed up in dresses and too toos whilst dancing to the F###ing nutcracker then they can do it! The only thing the care about right now is pleasing the Halo fans, keeping them happy, and making sure halo is a long lived working, and fun series. The entire franchise lies in the hands of 343, and it was made up of a massive team that consisted of programmers, 3D modelers, musicians, but most of all HALO FANS! If 343 doesn’t listen to its community than it is nothing, and doesn’t deserve the rights to halo. (And would probably just be a dev team made up by Microsoft to keep things going.) If 343 cares about halo it will listen to what the halo fans need, and what halo needs to be halo again. This would show that halo has a chance with a more than deserving company and community that cares! 343 is a large company made up of fans with the know how, and by making master cheif collection they tackled a huge project and I, and everyone else should respect 343 in every way, but with halo should never be doing things less than perfect, a reputation like that will be 343’s fall.
I am writing this because I care for the franchise and am in hopes that a petition (or petitions) will arise and that 343 will fix this so that they wont be falsely advertising with the “full halo experience” (because so far its not!) also I put a lot of time and effort into this post, and if no one will start a petition (like any halo fan would) on this than I will!
