Armor Customization Issue

Is anyone bothered by the lack of armor customizing in Halo 5?

Remembering back Halo Reach was by far the most customizable. Not only could you do different right/left, but there were add-ons to armors/helmets themselves. I really miss the right vs left thing (I always used to like doing heavier armor on the left and a set with barely anything on the right). Anyone else bothered by this? If anything it seems like a downgrade. As of now there only seems to be 1 asymmetrical helmet and 1 armor; the NOMAD armor and the Nightfall helmet, but shows the idea of little camera add-ons and stuff is well within the ability of the game.

I mean I get 4 versions of each helmets/armors paint scheme, but who cares as you are just red/blue in every game mode but FFA. I’d rather have them not make any new armors/paint schemes and just allow me to mix/match what is already within the game.

Its a downgrade with a lot of ease. Problem is that helmets and armor set have a lot of different skins which doesn’t fit to variety. So that 170 helmets aren’t all different, they are just reskins of older versions. I just wish they would return all the older helmet and armors back to Halo and then add in their own crappy designs. Therefore you wont have to worry about new armor because it’s simply not needed.

It bothers me too. I really want to like Halo 5, but so much of it is just lackluster…

I think that there’s enough armor customization for the moment in Halo 5. Yes, 343i really should have added shoulder customization but the shoulders would probably phase into the armor, like the bigger shoulder pieces in Halo 4. Maybe eventually they could add some helmet up-armors and stuff like in Halo Reach. Fingers crossed!

I much prefer Halo 5s customisation.

In 4 I could never make my guy look good until it dawned on me finally to use whole sets of armour with no mixin n matchin. The moment I figured it out, I started loving the designs much more and also really disliking everyone elses jumbled mess spartans. These spartan 4 gen 2 armour sets are designed as, and should be worn as, complete sets.

Halo Reach did have pretty cool customisation, but it was adding different parts onto an already complete set of worn unkempt armour. It seems like they now have to keep their armour in a good looking condition, kinda like how the Empire requires stormtrooper armour to be shiny and clean all the time. Most noticeably, Chief got a shiny new chestplate without the scar.

The armor were worn out because they were constantly sent on missions and hardly had time to repair their armor. Cheapest way was to meld armor on or use different types. Now in Halo 4, multiple manufactures produce the armor, most likely at a low cost. Therefore repairing the armor is significantly cheaper along with the UNSC Infinity’s armor bay. So Chief’s armor was basically repaired by the UNSC. In the Halo 4 ending cutscene where master chief finally takes off his armor, that is where he most likely got it repaired. So yeah they are always shiny stormtroopers LOL At least they can aim and their armor actually protects them.

I preferred mix and matching armor sets. I liked the pathfinder shoulders and protector shoulder so I had 2 different shoulders with the Mark VI body and War master helmet in Halo 4. Now its boring. There’s nothing else to live for but the multiplayer. No more endless hours of customizing. Its kind of like they stopped at helmet option and didn’t finish the rest.

I don’t mind not being able to customize every piece. What bothers me is that 2/3’s of the armor looks absolutely horrible. Armor design is not 343’s forte. And then there are some pieces that have skins you are not allowed to color. I get a full set of recon and there’s some markings that are a weird “seafoam” color that I’m not allowed to change. Why would they do this!?!
And don’t get me started on the butchered emblem customization…

If you like using the pre-made sets you can. Nothing about allowing more customization means you can’t use original sets as they were meant to be, it just means if you want to make your character more unique it isn’t an option. Also it seems extra strange as now they have the 3d Printed Spartan Models; like if its my spartan I want it to make it look like how I want not some cookie cutter toys with 2 choices basically.

I mean also why have all the extra paint skins for each armor set, I mean again you really can’t see them in any game type other than FFA. It’s like a trick to make it seem like there is more content/more to unlock but really its just laziness.

The emblem thing I hate too and it really only needs 1 tiny thing for me to not. Why the hell can’t I pick all the colors. Maybe I want 2 of the same colors so parts of the emblem blend together so it becomes a slightly different emblem.

Again for me it just seems like all my problems with the game are about very easy to add or features in older games that were removed. I mean these futures existed on older games on older systems so technology wise there isn’t really a good reason for not adding it as far as I see it. So Halo Reach literally changed the cut-scenes to reflect your armor choices, but now the matchmaking can’t handle 2 different arm armors? Again maybe they drop features like this to meet release date (remember reading Halo 2 had more missions originally but they removed due to release date), but if so they should add it in a future update.

I like that idea but I wish there were goals that u could complete to get certain armor stuff for shure in a req pack

I MISS HALO REACH

Alright you know what its pretty ridiculous. I just unlocked the Scanner armor and its just a reskin of the soldier armor… Okay I mean seriously these reskins are starting to piss me off. This is some really lazy stuff. The recognition of E-sports completely ruined this game as it is more heavily biased towards multiplayer. Whats the point of having armor customization, if they are gonna reskin stuff. Might as well have everyone wear the recruit armor if they are gonna downgrade it to this far because seriously, it looks better than some of the armor I have seen. 343i has really taken a step backwards in my opinion. Some armor pieces reuse other pieces, so basically there was a chance that full armor customization would have been possible, but was not achieved. I’m just gonna wait for Halo Reach to come to the xbox one. I don’t care if its gonna be an upscale version or if its gonna look bad.

Which is way 343’s design is majorly flawed and sucks at best. That’s why the old mix and match variation was better.

I can at least understand how this setup might simplify things from a design perspective. Less understandable is the new emblem system which despite offering barely any customization any more, actually seems like it would be more time-consuming to program compared to previous games.

Can’t we just reset Halo 5 and pretend none of this happened.

The lack of Sage color is the biggest mystery.

I just wish the armor DID SOMETHING. It’s basically playing dress-up Barbie with your Spartan.

Bungie saw the wisdom in this which is why they added attributes to all of their armor and weapons in Destiny. It gives players the ability to choose armor and weapons that complement their play style.
