Armor Cores Can Be Cool

I’ll say it right now: the Armor Core issue right now is terrible. Currently, 90% of the obtainable armor pieces that we can get by playing the game is for the Mark V. Meanwhile, 90% of the armor pieces that we can get for Mark VII can only be purchased through the Store.

Its a situation that anyone - and everyone - hates, including myself.

After getting Rank 96 in the Battle Pass and my customization options having been expanded on, however, I think I may come to like it later on in the future when we have a larger selection.

At the moment I have my ideal Mark V Spartan with the armor pieces currently available: I’m wearing the ODST helmet and left shoulder with the Visigoth visor, SAP/MKVI shoulder to the right, wrist-mounted shotgun shell holder, Tac/Recon Package chest plate, Challenger gloves, M10 Tactical Soft Case at the thigh, and UA/Type JOR Kneepads. With the Noble Executioner Armor Coating, I’ve got a badass-looking ODST if I do say so myself.

I’m not sure about most people, but typically how I went with customizations in Halo games was that I got my perfect Spartan armor configuration and hardly ever changed in. Halo 3 was Security with the stupidly large visor and shoulder pads set, Reach was a CQB set, 4 was GUNGNIR, and 5 was…whatever armor pieces that the REQ Packs granted me and making do with them. So I’m hardly ever going to change this set.

So there is a great deal of intrigue and, perhaps, a sense of accomplishment at the idea of being able to walk into the Armor Hall and having my ODST-kitted out Mark V, then I can swap over to a Mark VII that’s styled in CQB or GUNGNIR (if those armor pieces do come out for the Armor Core), and then whatever crazy Armor Cores they decide to come out for the Fracture Events.

Frankly, I want a Gears of War-inspired Armor Core at some point in the future.

Granted though, there could still be some tweaks that would be much loved for the customization system (being able to selectively-paint or, at the very least, make Armor Coatings/Visor Colors cross-core, for example) but while there are definitely people who aren’t as lucky as me at having the armor pieces that they want available and I can still dislike the current issues even if I have an armor I love, I think the Armor Cores in particular are something that I can warm up to and downright like once we get more and more obtainable armor as time goes on.
