Armor Colors

I’m a bit miffed with the current color selection in Halo 5. Personally I rep orange all day every day in Halo and have been since Halo 2. There seems to be either a color blind person working on the color pallet of Halo 5 or they just really like brown. I went and took a screen shot of the pallet select screen from the Spartan builder located on Waypoint just to check the hex data for each color and my findings are saddening. This is what the brown in Halo 5 is while this is the orange. They are in fact both a shade of orange but very clearly lower on the pallet being almost equal in amount of green present. Now here is what red looks like in Halo 5. That looks almost orange or orange-red to me. My ideal orange is this, but I can tolerate a darker tone like this.

This is the most nitpickey thing I could ever find with a game I’m super hyped for, but I want to point this out. I don’t want to be brown man I wanna glow like the sun. A gross incandescence that can never be snuffed out.

Yeh I’m not one to be negative usually but they don’t have a purple that looks purple either, they all just look pink :frowning:

Won’t really diminish my enjoyment of the game but I still feel a tad disappointed. This is just the site render I’m going from though, in game could be a different story (I hope).

They are a bit naff, but I think In-game they will look a lot better and more varied than on waypoint, remember the preview version is rarely as good as the one we see on screen and on our characters.

but maybe this is just what the embedded web-preview shows you depending on your screen-config, browser config, etc…
u should wait till next week before you complain about something ^^ if it will turn out true that this “rusty” brown-orange (i´d like to call it: browrange xD ) tone is the new orange than you can bring it on again

I have to disagree. I’ve seen the in-game version of these colors as well and can tell you they are exactly the same as the waypoint builder.

We need the colors of Halo 3 era back, man those were the days.

This is basically the orange present in Halo 3. It is also my ideal orange, but I can deal with darker tones. I just don’t like it to be almost identical to the brown.

Halo has always tended to swerve away from metallics and vibrant colors. But that being said post launch dlc?

Yea the colors kinda suck and are limited in 5. Pretty much my only complaint so far

Why can’t they just have a colourwheel instead? Then everyone will be happy

Nice post OP, I agree with you.

Were it so easy.

I thought exactly the same thing I want the normal orange not that brownish tones.

We also need more green shades. Like sage

Actually it will all become red/blue in multiplayer anyway isn’t it, so it doesn’t really matter

I just hope they add more colors in post-launch. I know it’s unlikely, but it is possible.

Rarely have I seen a better timed and used quote. Very nice quote and I agree that the colors are a bit lacking in this game and in my opinion the biggest disappointment for customization so far. I still am holding out hope that they will be better in the final build and look better on the actual game than they do on Waypoint.

Lol “final build” they have about 4 days to edit what they can and have to. Maybe this would be in the day one patch when its live to everyone, currently all the review copy peeps may discuss about that if any changes(like changing colors) should be made if there is time.

I see you have no idea how difficult and impossible that would be. The game is finished. As I stated above, they may add more if there is enough demand.

You should probably stop feeling so entitled and read this.

That said, the in-game shades vs. the customiser are way different. Hopefully they’ll update the latter to be more like it is in-game, or at the very least like that old tool Vanity that was made for the Halo: Reach armour customisation.
