It’ll be whatever the number of colours there are, squared. I don’t know how many colours there are in Halo 5 off the top of my head, but 1770 doesn’t have an integter square root, so I’m going to go with 1770 not being the true number of combinations.

I see were the issue is. This algorithm treats “red primary/yellow secondary” and “yellow primary/red secondary” as the same thing and having primary and secondary as the same colors are not included at all. You need to simply use 60x60. So there is WAY MORE combinations then that!

Makes sense:
1770 ×2 = 3540
since there are 60 combinations of having the same colour as primary and secondary,
3540 + 60 = 3600
So, 3600 is the final number of skins required to have the same colour combination options for our armour as we had in Halo 5, in Halo Infinite. If these skins cost even a £1/$1…Well, I’m not going to insult anyone’s intelligence.

Or a system like Warframe where they give you the basic colors on a color pallete, and then expect you to buy the rest of the colors on that same pallette and to buy more color palletes to customize yourself further.
See, that works in Warframe because the game is surprisingly even-handed for a free to play game. I have high doubts Halo Infinite will be as free as Warframe is.
Regardless of the problem with color coatings, I think that infinite can still be a fun game, seeing how 343i has handled mcc, shows us that they do try to care about the community wants. The armor coating is Microsoft’s way of getting more money, plain and simple. 343 has seen our complaints, now it’s just a matter of what Microsoft does.
343 desperately needs better communication between their community and them, and their announcement plus the numerous threads across the internet about the announcement are the best proof of that.

Please don’t mess this up 343. Locking out custom armor colors with “coatings” being the only option would be a huge slap in the face to Halo fans. Walk this back please, or correct any misinformation we have received.

Don’t forget that it took years for the MCC to be remotely playable, and that true customisation options for Halo 4 still haven’t been accomplished yet, as of typing this. We only got it Halo 3 this year. That’s six years after release. Thirteen years after the launch of Halo 3. If so, I’ll be buying Infinite in 2027 (along with TES VI).
The fact that we need to stir up a massive voice to get 343i to NOT screw their customers over is insane.

No. You don’t do that, and then expect all the fans to just sit quietly. Making such a change needs suitable justification, and absolutely none has been offered.

Exactly. There are so many unique options that it would create more work on their part. Also, its just another preset that I will see someone else use. More work on their part all in all.

Completely agree. Words mean nothing without action, and business only listens to money. Unless this is changed, or that this whole thing is a misunderstanding that can be better clarified, then don’t support this practice. Don’t support the game.
