That’s the least subtle shade I’ve ever seen anyone throw at a developer for what amounts to a trivial issue that we should resolve quickly.
Kudos to you for being ballsy but also wow for how disingenuous that actually was holy crap.

I’d say loyalty (to the franchise, not whoever is at the helm) would be a good explanation for why people are quick to criticize a change that they don’t agree with. And you’re right, we have the smallest of details. Perceptions could change as more information comes out, but for now it’s very understandable why people are upset. What we have isn’t sounding good. People wouldn’t complain about it if they didn’t care about Halo anymore.

It’s a Halo staple. So seeing them gone, alarms me about other things to come.I don’t think going Free to Play was the better choice. I would rather pay $60 for a game up front, $80 even, then have to put up with MTX everywhere.
The ratio of people defending this move is 10% to 90% at best. The only people defending the move are the people who “don’t really care.” And frankly, they have a right to not care. For the rest of us though, this has turned into a verbal bloodbath. We asked for content but this whole situation is not what I had envisioned.
My biggest issue is that these things are going to be locked behind these purchases, and will not be available in game. If buying something from GameStop gives instant/early access then no big deal in my mind. If I am required to buy something from GameStop that’s an entirely different situation.
I appear to be in the minority here, and maybe I’m just being a little bit naive, but this doesn’t seem like an issue, and seems like it could actually be kind of cool. In 90% of multiplayer it defaults to red vs. blue anyways.
Edit: my biggest issue isn’t the system, but how it will implemented. If I’m required to buy these things, that’s different than having them unlocked in game.

Individual customization is a no go. It’s all coatings now. Games weren’t pay walled years ago, and developers still make plenty of money out of individual sales. We just want a classic halo back, but maybe 343 can’t give that to us

Not sure anyone has stated they aren’t willing to learn more, in fact quite the opposite. The community has been begging, pleading, basically bleeding for more information. Most people being critical here read the news that 343i put out in their update? They quite literally said they removed the primary secondary color choice. People are putting two and two together based on that news and the fact that each of these coating are literally named “red” or the “azule” for the warthog coating.
I would hate to guess that this could indicate the removal of traditional red vs blue teams. This is a stretch but from my understanding of destiny 2 that people keep their actual
armor choices.

The blame still lands on 343 for allowing this to occur. They admit in the post it’ll be controversial, and then decided to give us the bare minimum details as though this is something we’d be excited about. No. You don’t do that, and then expect all the fans to just sit quietly. Making such a change needs suitable justification, and absolutely none has been offered.
Even if, somehow, the system ends up being absolutely amazing and we all eat our words, 343 still screwed this up.

I agree with that. If they don’t care then that’s fine. You aren’t wrong about the verbal bloodbath either I’m afraid.

I will more than happily eat my words. I wanted to be wrong about this whole situation from the beginning, but I seen it coming. Like you said, even if this turns out for the better, it’s still a fumble on them with they have handled this game.

When you look back at the Bungie games, even Halo 4 in terms of having everything there for the player, they are miles behind with infinite if they are taking this route of coatings thru MTX. I love this franchise I’ve played it growing up, and I still do, but I don’t want it becoming another battlefront 2 situation. Maybe 343 made the wrong choice with going F2P, because that would force them to monetize quite a lot of things.

I know what you mean but everyone is overreacting as usual with the latest community update I’ve just read it and a huge plus now that they’ve got rid of primary/secondary colours i hope is that they give the player the option to change the pattern/material for those much akin to Anthems way of customising their character

I agree that Microsoft is partly, if not mostly to blame for this, because Microsoft probably pushed 343i into this choice. It just wouldn’t make sense for 343i to all of a sudden change the armor color customization. I don’t think completely blaming 343i is right, because I’m very certain that Microsoft is mostly to blame. Hopefully with this pushback, 343i finds a way to include the normal armor color customization, and make the companies that Microsoft made deals with, happy.
I don’t agree with the decision to remove this color system, but I don’t think completely blaming 343i is right either, bringing our complaints to them is the better option as they’ll obviously see our complaints, and with how many there are, they’ll probably address it sometime, hopefully soon.

Agreed. If a math teacher gave you a new equation and said figure it out on your own then all the students failed because not enough information was given, the blame wouldn’t fall onto the students…it falls on the teacher.
The decision to lock armor color customization behind a paywall is the worst choice for Halo Infinite. Colors have been a feature since Halo 1. Why is it with every game there is a catch? Halo 4 had a good story BUT had a bad multiplayer, Halo 5 had a competitive multiplayer BUT Req packs, and Halo Infinite will hopefully have good gameplay BUT customization is behind a paywall. Colors aren’t going to be it too, I predict a paid battle pass with armors and such. Or halo reach style menus for armors but instead of 5,000 credits for the ODST helmet it’ll be $5.00 for the helmet. This is why I feared halo going f2p because I knew these things would come about. Why force these on your paid audience? People are going to be paying 60-70 dollars for this game and 343i is just going to ask them for more money? This stuff should only be forced upon the non paying audience and not your core fanbase. I can only hope this goes away but it looks like we are in for another disappointment that we have waited years for.
Also my thread on this subject got Locked

Fair enough, you’re right. I just get a little frustrated how strong the reaction can be sometimes when people hear even an inkling of something they don’t like. But in this case I can sympathize in some regard, I would personally just rather wait and see before yelling at 343.

Its almost as if they’re giving out breadcrumbs to see if we like them, admittedly they seem to have given us some terrible crumbs this time around.
But its not all doom and gloom just because a couple things we dont like have happened. Lets try be optimistic at the very least.

I mean that sounds… better? I guess. Idk.
Im getting the campaign regardless of if the MP is a masterpiece or a dumpster fire it would certainly make the game seem like a full package if you could actually use content you would have to pay for anyway solely by purchasing the full game.
I mean that’s still better than like nothing I guess.

Or, and hear me out, we could have had the option to change our armour colour and the pattern/material - thus allowing for greater player identity, as they claimed they wanted to support and encourage.
Virtually no one would complain if that were the case, and if this wasn’t all about sucking every penny out of the players, it would be the case. If it wasn’t about sucking every penny out of the players, we would be able to customise each of the 7 armour layers of the skins.
