For example, we know Infinite will have a Battle Pass system akin to the one in MCC. Its extremely likely, given that Infinite is free to play, that there will be a paid BP in Infinite. Its also possible that this BP will be time limited, but we don’t know yet.
> >
> > I can almost guarantee color shaders will be on the BP. If the BP are time limited, then the color shaders will likely be purchasable after the fact for Halo Buxs, or whatever nonsense premium currency 343 will use for this schlock. I think its safe to say that Infinite will have some form of purchasable Color Shaders, either through Battle Pass or after Battle Pass.
>
> We don’t know for sure if there will be a Battle Pass system like MCC in Infinite. We know alledgedly that there is a Battle Pass system from Klobrille, who actually got a fair bit right in Halo Infinite. Damn was he right about customization in Infinite… Nonetheless, we don’t know for sure, but I would have faith in Klobrille’s accuracy on leaks. That said, I agree that if there is a BP system, it’ll have a premium track at least and would most likely be time limited, for like a season or something, however that lasts.
>
> If there is a BP, I also agree 110% there will be shaders on that pass. That seems inevitable. You already know that that will not be the only thing they’ll sell, though. There’s bound to be a separate shop anyway if there is a battle pass, akin to other F2Ps.
>
> Pretty much, yeah, its very likely that we’ll see armor coatings locked behind a paywall. We do not know for sure, but the potential of it is there and its heavily implied by that potential that at least some of them will cost us. And on that, I don’t think we have the benefit of the doubt to believe 343 wouldn’t exploit the armor coating system for $$$.
>
> A shame.
I believe 343 confirmed that the MCC’s Battle Pass system will be what Infinite’s monetization will be, but they specified this in a blog post a long whole back. If I were to find it, I’d have to be in front of my PC.
I am someone who admittedly has spent big on req packs and even I do not approve of this.
I understand having some cosmetics being purchasable, but there should be color customization. I feel like I should be able to do Red Shift or Monarch coloring for free. If it had been “Red Shift armor” and was fancier or unique in some way, I could see that. I support companies trying to make money. To charge for red or purple armor coating is bad.
I would have done something like “Play as John 117” bundles. “Play as Blue team and save on bulk”, ect. Mix in some armors for purchase(maybe Helioskrill). Things like that. Then you have your unlockables through game play. Certain things should be available to everybody. You should not have to play parts of the game you do not like to get basic armors or emblems.
I hope this can be changed somehow. I have to say even I am becoming anti-343 at this point.

If they did then I hadn’t found it, so my bad. That said, though, 343 has gone against their word before. I would hesitate to believe they’re consistent with something they’ve said ages ago, but given what Klobrille said, I would believe they have some sort of BP, if not MCC’s version.
No worries. Beyond anything else, we should be making it clear to 343 that no matter how we view this, we all dislike this choice.

Idk HiddenXPeria normally tells it like it is despite his “cheeky” nature. I’d assume HaloFollower isn’t in 343i greatest graces at the moment since he released an hour long spoiler on the latest halo book (I unknowingly posted it and it was moved to the halo universe section). Never been a big fan of “the bro” Sean w.
I legitimately would not be as disappointed as i am now if they let us mix and match Coatings like primary and secondary colours, but nope, we got this burning bullcrap instead, hopefully they actually show it off soon so we know more details about the current thing that has the halo community in a tizzy

They won’t. They’ll go back in the bunker for another couple of months, throw out something controversial, then stick their heads in the sand and pretend it’s a “vocal minority”
The only effective weapon against this filth is our wallets. don’t but Infinite, don’t pre order, and don’t buy Infinite sponsored food products. Let them know that this is a bad decision. Hit them where it counts.

I completely agree. I’d take paying for maps over not being able to express myself any day.
I don’t know what people are talking about when they say things like picking colors in Halo is iconic or inseparable from the idea of Halo. It’s never been unique in that regard, it’s not like it’s an RPG or something.
That being said, the main problem I have with this is that it’s a bell weather as to what else is to come in the form of microtransactions. I just have a feeling that they’re going to monetize everything they possibly can in an attempt to squeeze people dry. It won’t work on me, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be happy about something as basic as customizing colors being locked behind a paywall.
This could have all been avoided had they let us choose primary/secondary/tertiary colors, material, etc all of those 7 layers EXCEPT the patterns, so they can lock cheetah print, stripes, dots, etc behind a paywall and at least then people could still choose from thousands of different combinations to make their spartans look unique and customized to what they want.

I think that the general argument about picking colors in Halo is needed is that 343 specifically said that fans of Halo Reach’s customization would not be disappointed with the armor customization of Halo Infinite. Yet now they say that we cannot even pick our own color scheme?! However, your idea has merit.

Yeah I think the overall idea is they’ve taken Spartans sense of identity away. I know I wasn’t happy about having to grind for my emblem (in H5) which had normally been one of the emblems that were offered upfront (since Halo CE). I know once I got it, it hasn’t changed. My problem is that which has been stated, people who have a specific color combination now will have to settle for possibly, a coating which they aren’t too fond of or settle for a coating with colors that they aren’t too fond of. It’s shenanigans
i would have been happy to Grind for the armors all day similar to reach style customization. Colors being unlockables/paywalled just seems petty.

I agree with both of you. I was just saying that I think the real issue is being obfuscated, which both of you articulated well. The real issue is the false promises and the mircrotransactions, not just a feature being removed.

Agreed…you thought H5 was watered down with armors and skins…just wait…juuuuusssst wait. It’s literally a mix of Halo (or the remnants of) and Fortnite.
Greed. Thats all there is too it. Look at h5 with the req packs (which i never really minded) they evolved that into something 10 times more anti-consumer. But this was 100% excpected. When games go free-to-play you can expect some real dirty stuff in it.

No Bungie good 343i bad don’t you know the rules around here? /s
I’m getting more and more nervous each day that microtranscations will find their way into the single player game (ala Assassin’s Creed), so nowhere is safe for us yet!
Eventually our complaints will be lost in Mammon’s sea of avarice. Soon all our words will blow over and no opposition will be made to the inevitable changes.
Persistence will be our key to at least getting our voices heard. Let’s not give up in trying to request a true classic Halo game.

…EXACTLY. Then they took a page from Bungie/Destiny. It’s comical. I really hope none of this bs makes its way into campaign. Campaign has been and always will be my bread and butter, my connection to this franchise.
I would have rather had them put maps, dlc under a pay wall instead of these battle passes/micro transactions. I know this may be a hot topic but at least it could potentially protect some of the minor yet core aspects of the game. Then again I believe nothing is left off the table for these transactions after the latest armor coating blunder
