I play CoD while it is fun and the customization options are amazing but sometimes BS (because you need packs to get some customization options) but this this is a whole new level of BS.

The only thing that could possibly have me still buy Infinite is if the Campaign is REALLY good.

The demo still looked fun, it just didn’t look as graphically appealing as it could, which even then I didn’t think it looked awful. Still plenty of things that needed work that you can point out though, with Brute faces coming to mind. The color choice is just a wrong move, considering the blog post even states that they knew people would be upset with the change.

Is that blue? is that (frick)ing blue? this is (frick)ing Blue! Your selling me armor that’s painted blue and your charging me two dollars
I think that the fact that this thread has exploded in popularity is proof to 343 that just about the entire Halo community thinks this is a TERRIBLE idea. Yet I almost feel like 343 cares more about the fans they hope to win through this game then the loyal fans who stuck with Halo despite their shortcomings.
Honestly why do colors even bother people? If you want to be 2 colors then BE 2 COLORS. most of the time (unless you’re on a free for all match or campaign) you are RED OR BLUE, again maybe another color depending on how many teams there are. Some people like variation, and don’t like looking like everyone else. The more customization the better, I mean it’s 2020, not 2001. And if you don’t want to pay for microtransactions then don’t. I’m sure they will make most of the skins or colors available later. And I’m sure all of the better colors and skins will be unlockable in the game itself. Just my opinions though, to each their own.

Normally on the scale of things this would be a minor outcry for most games. But I feel like every time we get news about Infinite it goes against what this community wants and this is the straw that broke the camel’s back. There nobody defending this. Not here. Not on Reddit.
Just add this to the to do list for the delay. I can’t remember any pre launch period of a Halo game that had me feel so worried about the game.

Actually there are people defending this.
“What are you angry about? This is just like Overwatch, everybody does it”
and
“Would you rather have paid map packs back?”
are just some of the comments I’ve seen. On Reddit and Youtube so far.

At first I was worried about the delay, now I am both terrified and relieved for this game. IF 343 listens to their community, this delay will be chance for them to repair the mistakes they have made. But IF 343 does not listen, the delay will just give them more time to mess things up.

Lets be clear, they have not specified whether or not armor coatings are purchasable in terms of like an ingame store. That has not been made clear. If you want to get technical, you are purchasing other products in other to get a code for armor coatings, but that isn’t purchasing it outright.
The point many of us are trying to say when we say they will be purchasable is that they have thepotentialto become purchasable microtransactions. 343 effectively has the ability to slap textures/materials and etc. onto your Spartan and sell if its something like a special design, such as a Spartan covered in glassed rock or a Forerunner pattern on their armour. Along with this, armor coatings restrict color customization, so whatever colors you have on that set is then locked, no matter what you want to change and how little it is. It is not confirmed whether or not armor coatings will be purchasable as a microtransaction, but the breadth of armor coatings allow for the potential purchasable skins similar to that of Fortnite’s skins or Destiny 2’s Ornaments. Hence a big part of why I don’t like them.

This has been 343’s modus operandi since Halo 4, when they approached it with the mindset of egotistical teenagers taking over for their dad.

While there is a degree to this that is true, there’s also some of the facts going into Infinite we have to consider. For example, we know Infinite will have a Battle Pass system akin to the one in MCC. Its extremely likely, given that Infinite is free to play, that there will be a paid BP in Infinite. Its also possible that this BP will be time limited, but we don’t know yet.
I can almost guarantee color shaders will be on the BP. If the BP are time limited, then the color shaders will likely be purchasable after the fact for Halo Buxs, or whatever nonsense premium currency 343 will use for this schlock. I think its safe to say that Infinite will have some form of purchasable Color Shaders, either through Battle Pass or after Battle Pass.
Went to sleep 8 hours ago and this forum literally doubled in size. Lol…keep up the good work ladies and gentlemen. I can guarantee the content creators on YouTube are going to have a field day with this latest update. I find it almost unbearable that they knew the backlash was coming and made a sentence or two addressing it in the update.
as another member mentioned in a previous post, this halo was built and catered to this newer generation of gamers. It was built as a more “mature Fortnite”. A game that can easily be picked up. I honestly don’t see the population keeping a sustained rate any longer than 3-6 months

We don’t know for sure if there will be a Battle Pass system like MCC in Infinite. We know alledgedly that there is a Battle Pass system from Klobrille, who actually got a fair bit right in Halo Infinite. Damn was he right about customization in Infinite… Nonetheless, we don’t know for sure, but I would have faith in Klobrille’s accuracy on leaks. That said, I agree that if there is a BP system, it’ll have a premium track at least and would most likely be time limited, for like a season or something, however that lasts.
If there is a BP, I also agree 110% there will be shaders on that pass. That seems inevitable. You already know that that will not be the only thing they’ll sell, though. There’s bound to be a separate shop anyway if there is a battle pass, akin to other F2Ps.
Pretty much, yeah, its very likely that we’ll see armor coatings locked behind a paywall. We do not know for sure, but the potential of it is there and its heavily implied by that potential that at least some of them will cost us. And on that, I don’t think we have the benefit of the doubt to believe 343 wouldn’t exploit the armor coating system for $$$.

The only people I see trying to put anykind of positive spin on this and downplay the removal of something as basic as letting us pick our colours are the Halo content creators that are in good standing with 343i.
