- Armor coatings restricted to cores
Considering our primary and secondary colours have been taken away and we’ve been handed coatings I think it’s completely unfair to restrict different coatings to different armor cores. If you own a coating you should be able to apply it to whatever armor you would like.
- Armor kits problem and UCS kits
I bought a UCS kit as I liked the look of the coating and was hoping I could wear it separately (especially because I just paid for it) but it’s locked to that kit only. I understand why I can’t wear the actual armor separately as it’s something I have to unlock via the battle pass. But I haven’t seen the coating available to unlock anywhere else.
- Base coatings reduced
I noticed in the tech preview we had more options for coatings however I noticed some have been taken away and I noticed one in particular.
I remember the red coating in the tech preview and noticed I now had to unlock through the battle pass. Now it might be a free unlock, I hope it is, but it will be really annoying if it’s behind the premium pass.
- Lack of coatings
This might be because it’s only a beta and it’s been out for less than a day but there doesn’t seem to be a large range of coatings that replace primary and secondary colors in a satisfactory way. Please have more ready for the official launch.
- Other issues I have
I seem to recall that the first battle pass would be free and that I thought I remembered that people couldn’t bypass it with money. Both of these are now sadly false.
I also noticed a lack of armor in both cores. I’m pretty sure that’s just because we’re playing a beta right now but I’d like to know when that armors coming.
There’s alot of potential for customization here but please makes cores less restrictive especially with coatings and our colours of all things. The armor looks super good and I’ve been really enjoying the game, please just expand on coatings they seem a little lacklustre right now.

Just noticed the red coating, “Scarlett medic” wasn’t in the pass, it was in the store to buy instead.
Before anyone jumps in to defend 343, let’s take a moment to recall that real, extensive customisation options have existed in games in the past: just look up 'Nascar 15 customisation time-lapse)
It’s very possible, just not profitable.

Armour Kits are a fancy way of saying “Skins” basically
An alternate system to this worse version of a Destiny Shader-esque system would be:
Warframe’s Colour Pallets
or
Anthem’s Material System.
both that can be monetised, but still allow for player expression through changing our colours on the armour.
Too further add, ive noticed that a majority of the main FTP Armour Core pieces for mark VII are not tied to the BP, but are tied to the cash shop as the only means of accessing them.
while yes, we are in the beta stage, it is all the more important to bring this to the forefront during this timeframe.
Armor coatings are the worst thing that could happen to halo considering we were always free to pick the color scheme we wanted before even playing a single match. Terrible decision and approach.
Now if said coatings were just different ways and “template textures” as in, different layouts and way you could apply the colors without locking the freedom of custom selection, (similar way H5 handled different variants of the same armor) it would be great. Sadly this is not the case.
I despise this stupid feature so much, coatings lock your creative freedom, and now i need to pray they release the color combination of my liking (if they ever do).
This was made just for the sake of selling stuff and microtransactions, the system needs to go.

Except it can be profitable.
Look at Warframe :
Selling Colour Palettes for around 4-5 bucks each.
Selling armor pieces or sets for 10 bucks-ish.
Selling special skins for much more.
Ironically, Warframe is also on the XBOX, but doesn’t occur to MS to try and learn effective monetization methods.
