I don’t see an armor coating wishlist as something akin to rolling over and taking what 343 might dish out. It’s more like making the best out of an uncertain situation as we have little to no info about coatings at all. It’s easy to say “huehuehue ur paying 20$ to wear the color blue arent u stupid? bungle Halo best Halo forever can’t change my mind new bad old good.” But there are tons of ways that they can implement this coating thing without it being a massive cash grab. As it stands though it could go either way. Let’s have a little optimism at least?

343 said there are coatings you unlock by playing, as well, heck, it was said by Staten himself. Also, we don’t know what the prices will be like, and I highly doubt it would be $5 for a basic colour. Rather than get lost in speculation, why not try just not judging until more is known?

343 leave themselves open to speculation by not answering…they want us to not be angry they should tell us more stuff…they haven’t spoken for basic colors and hence leave themselves vulnerable when the only news we have is MTX based colors like red and white.

Speculation can only go so far before it gets silly. Thinking anybody would charge $5 for basic colours is silly. Think about it: Why would anybody want to buy a basic blue colour, when there could be a far more elaborate sparkling Powder-Blue with silver highlights available for purchase? It just doesn’t make sense to sell bland colours right next to extravagant ones.
It also makes sense to hold off on discussing more controversial topics, like armour coatings, until more of the basics are covered, namely the sandbox and general balancing of the game. Gameplay is the most important part of any video game, so if people can be assured that that works fine, it’ll soften the blow of less popular announcements, like a hypothetical announcement that all armour is randomized again.

Maybe they’e used basic blue, red, green, yellow etc for years. My forum avatar has been my basic colour set for years. Some armour coatings look ok but not everyone want’s their colours shosen for them. Many players have entire companies in one colour set. Also, people will speculate until 343i clarify.
Yes we can earn by playing, but what exactly. Can we get entire sets in plain grey with purple flashes and a blue visor ? We know there will be fomo events for coatings, will they charge to avoid grind, what’s the price of sets and pieces ? I think this looks like an egregious cash grab and only 343i can clear it up.
I’m ok with them adding coatings, but some of us just want our own colours and they’ve removed that and added a dodgy looking system imo. To answer the OP ? I want grey armour coatings with purple flashes and my blue visor.
i hope all 30 base colors are present as starting sets for the full ghame buyers.
having a seperated decal system that layers on top of the coatings could also work nicely (like a heretic symbol, forerunner glyph, or oni decal)
full game buyers should get a set of 30 base color rectangle decals for their helmet, upper arm and thigh (basicly halo 2 secondary colors) to emulate full color customization without changing the coating system

Im fine with it as long as black with red detailing with yellow or gold highlights (like visor or armor lights etc) is free
