Armor and Aesthetics

So, just some ideas for possible armor and aesthetic changes, what I’d like to see etc.

First off, I’d like Recon to be a very exclusive armor, like it was early in Halo 3 (before all the vid master challenges and stuff). It was just a cool thing to see. It wasn’t necessarily impressive, but it was still something that was recognizable and sought-after.

Second, I would like to see custom paint colors, rather than preset ones. Something like this would be nice. I would also like to see unlock-able metallic paints. In Reach, this was the armor. Imagine the same color with a sort of glossy finish and you’d get what I’m aiming at.

Last, for the armor, I’m expecting to see just as much, if not more armor options than in Reach. In Reach you unlocked armor by ranking up; that was all good and well…But in Halo 4 I’d love to see unlock-able armor through challenges as well as Rank Up. You could unlock rare armor through things like getting 10 perfections in a single ranked playlist above the lvl 15. It would add a huge sense of accomplishment to unlocking armor, and frankly, give players different things to aim at.
(Oh, and don’t mind the 1-50 ranked playlist example. It was just an example to give you an idea of what i’m talking about)

So, those are my ideas. Let me know what you think of them and leave your own ideas below.

I think Recon has been worn out.

Maybe they could make Hayabusa the new uber-rare exclusive armor.

Perhaps they could also allow us to pick different shades of color in team games.

I would rather be dark red than bright red.

And bring back the dinos…

I just my recon helmet with a black coloring and then I am happy.

I know what you mean. In Reach you couldn’t even go into a lobby without seeing someone with it. I just want something similar.

And ya, I think Hayabusa would be a very fitting successor to what Recon was in Halo 3

if dinos/elites/sangheili come back…plus the custom colors…plus all previous game armor custimisations…that would be awsome

Well, elites are confirmed to not be in multiplayer…my condolences…

Support all your ideas except the last one about unlock-able armor through challenges. I agree that would add a huge sense of accomplishment and prestige to some armor. However, that system needs to be tweaked. For example, in Halo 3, I actually thought a lot of the unlockable armor or helmets looked stupid or ugly. I had zero incentives to try and unlock them, so the only way I unlocked them was through accident. The CQB helmet was the one I really liked, and that was available from the start.

So I think only armor/helmets that is really, really, REALLY so great-looking that everyone is dying to wear them deserve to be unlockables. Everything else should just be gained normally through experience.

Also, I think that some people really wasted a lot of time and irritated a lot of teammates when they spent entire multiplayer matches just trying to unlock one helmet/armor and not concentrating on winning. Some resorted to boosting. Also, some people just aren’t skilled enough to complete these challenges. I don’t think these people should be punished for it. So I think armor that can be unlocked through challenges should also be available once you rank-up (totally not based on skill) enough levels, but it should take so long that anyone without infinite patience would try to aim for the challenges instead.

ok ok…if they were to come back in NON-competetive multiplayer…thanks for correction

I think armor should be unlocked via achievements or something similar. Unlocking armor isn’t as much of an achievement if all you have to do is rank up.

I know what you mean about ugly/stupid looking helmets and armor. I think only the good looking ones should be unlock-able through challenges (then again everyone has there opinion, but there are still ones that are widely liked). However, I think SOME challenges should be difficult like the one i gave as an example. It adds prestige to the armor .

RGB color scale would be INCREDIBLE.

not sure why they havent hopped on board with this yet.

I’d definitely like an advanced color scheme option and a broad selection of armor.

I didn’t say the challenges shouldn’t be difficult. I said they should be. What I meant is that those people that keep trying and failing at accomplishing the challenges should eventually get the armor anyway, just for having the patience for keep going at it. Obviously if armor could be unlocked just by ranking up there would be no prestige.

I wouldn’t mind having the Katana back.
