As most are willing to argue that Halo 4’s multiplayer armor wasn’t as popular compared to its predecessor’s in Halo 3 and Reach. But I do think the lighter Gen 2 armor is heading in a right direction without space diapers and more mobility and less scraping of metal plates. And I think that’s where a lot of displeasure in the multiplayer comes from just how different its design is from master chief’s armor in game. They just looks so far from one another in regard to design.
But with Halo 5 I think we all want to see the return of human super soldier communicated in the design of the armor. A lot like how Master Chief looks in Halo 4, because I think his design is on que for what all future Halo armors should look like. He still lookef like the classic chief but more complex and it looked like he could actually move in Halo 4’s modified Mark VI. It looked futuristic and gritty, there was realism implemented into the design. Chief looked like a walking tank as a spartan should.
So what I’m trying to push across to 343 is go about making Halo 5’s multiplayer armor in the same vein as they did when Chief’s Mark VI armor was redesigned. There will be less complaints about the look and feel of the armor and more people pleased with the new armors look and feel, as long as it replicates the same design language as Master Chief’s modified Mark VI.
Why do we have to have like 5 threads on this same exact issue?
Take Reach’s armor and clean it up a little (visualize a combination between 3’s and Reach’s styles), and then add some more detail to bring it up to next-gen appearance.

I didn’t want to start another flame war about Halo 4 and Reach. I just wanted to state that I feel that the Halo 5 multiplayer armor should have more design elements from Master Chief’s Modified Mark VI to push the next gen feel.

I agree 100%. This is exactly where I want 343 to go with the armor design in Halo 5.
I second this notion. I was quite pleased with 117’s new Mjolnir look, and I thought it was a fitting evolution for our move into the next generation. The multiplayer permutations were very, very disappointing and cheap-looking. I was disappointed that I couldn’t find Chief’s new armor in the customization tab.
Even Spartan Locke’s armor looks nice, perhaps that is a sign of good things in our future.
Is it me or does Agent Locke’s armor seem like a new generation of HAYABUSA?
Mostly the helmet, duh.

I do enjoy the aesthetic of Locke’s armor it follows the simple style trend created by Master Chief’s modified Mark VI armor in the Gen 2 package. And if it happens to be Hayabusa then 343 is doing right for Halo 5.

a million times this.

I prefer this to the hundres of other threads about where halo 4 went wrong
I mentioned a few times that a unified. yet to-the-point signature customization is in order. I mean why not just stop at unified ranking systems? Multiple aesthetic generations at your disposal, of course including GEN2 styles.
Grand Theft Auto V gives you an entire 'nother game called “Pay 'n Spray”, a true vehicle customization tool. Again… It’s another game in of itself.
Anyways I better get off this subject because the wait to Gamescom is making me footloose.
I felt like the only difference between Masterchief’s armor in Halo 4 and the multiplayer counterparts was that Masterchief’s was more “sharp”. Multiplayer looked a bit pasty/blurry. If they had the armor more defined, it would have a significant difference.
That’s an awesome shade of Charcoal-Green color he has going on, gives him a moodier edge.
EDIT: Give me a reason, a reason not to grenade launcher myself…

I’m sure I’ve seen your post on upgrading armor based on the multiple Mjolnir generations on the MCC forum. And I completely agree. Halo 5 needs to have a base armor to choose from anywhere in the Mark IV to Gen2 sets and then customize on top of that.
I really think that’s the direction armor customization needs to go in for Halo 5. Because it’s become a standard part of halo to individualize your spartan. And this is the best way to please all players of halo whether or not you care about armor customization. So your spartan can be as OCD as possible when it comes to armor, be wild with it or to just set it to basic Mark VI as some prefer. Sure it’s dress up but for a lot of us it’s the customization that makes it “real” for us.
