Armor Abilty Effectiveness: Thruster Pack

To start off, I’m an avid believer in finding your own style. For me it keeps the game fresh and interesting. So for a long time I’ve been playing a certain way (on my main account) for fun. But sadly my denial is no longer working. Saying “fun” in attempt to ignore I effectiveness is over with.

I’ve finally broken down and admitted it. Thruster Pack is garbage.

Don’t get me wrong, the concept has great potential but its ruined by unbalanced limitations.

For example: to dodge/avoid danger, the jet pack can cover a huge distance, be used multiple times and completely nullify rockets, grenades etc. most importantly all while being able to still attack.

So why on earth is the thruster pack 1 single use? It covers no distance. You will still be hit by rockets, grenades and even melee. lol. On top of that your unable to attack while using it.

I highly suggest giving it a gauge similar to jetpacks allowing 2 maybe 3 uses.

Until then, there are way better options. (And by better I don’t mean the sentry. Lol. That’s just awful.)

I find it useful in 1v1 situations where you didn’t pop off the first shot.

Aim-assist goes away I believe which can give you an opportunity to run, fight back, etc.

It’s helped me so many times when fighting around corners. The thruster pack is much more effective in Campaign and Spartan Ops, and it feels that’s how it should be for all game modes.

Problem is, it does just as much harm. In a 1v1, using thruster pack means your opponent can attack while you can’t. For me thats only an issue because its only usable once. why is that? I wouldn’t mind not being able to attack if I could dodge more than once. Dodging 1 bullet, cool. But most guns can fire again before the animation is done. And of course were on cool down. Lol

@Grunty- Im speaking in regards to multiplayer versus others with AAs. It’s lacking there. PVE is a different ball game.

The thruster pack can be extremely beneficial in 4v4 gametypes on maps w/ different elevations. When you thrust off an edge, it actually drops you down faster. That split second can be the difference between surviving and not. It is great for stepping back when enemies are throwing grenades. It is good for side stepping an enemy who is close by to throw off their shot (I’ve evaded a few railgun shots on Haven) or to slide to their side for a beatdown. Its also saved me numerous times in CQC vs needlers. You can sometimes make more jumps around the map using thruster if you practice using it.

Maybe have 2 uses of its current efficiency, but if the AA button is held down, you drain the meter to go farther, and maybe have a little more jump to it.

I agree it isn’t nearly as powerful as AC or Jetpack, but it is useful. IMHO, all the AA should be brought down to the level of the thruster pack, not the other way around.

Thruster Pack is helpful to me in combat situations, not only for dodging and shoot’n, but to perform other tricks.

First I Thruster Pack into cover, then pop straight back out. Why do this? Most players believe that I am trying to escape usually when I do that, so they attempt a chase, when it’s not really one. It’s an excellent lure and trap.

Very cool idea. I’d be happy with 2-3 uses. But also draining the meter to cover more distance is brilliant.

For me personally i find the thruster pack to be useful in situations where you are able to surprise an opponent who thinks you are in aware.

IE: someone attempting to assassinate you it is easy to thruster up and over for a quick assassination.

Or for dodging grenades, though i will admit this is rather difficult.

the best use for it i find is getting around corners when being shot by the DMR since the “slow down goes away”

as for offensive it helps with the pulse grenade as you can throw and dodge the last shot and still get the kill.

it is useful but i find it more useful for defensive play, or an agile attacking force
