Armor ability tip/trick....Camouflage

This topic is for people to post thier own tricks/tips on how to use the armor ability active camouflage. It is also for people to view the community input of others to learn how to use the armor ability greatly as well.

Anybody have tips for active camouflage? The only tip I can think of is stay crouched to improve camo for movement but thats all I got any tips out there?

My tip would be to not use Active Camo. Here are the reasons for my thinking:

Radar- The AC screws with your enemies radar, giving away your position when staying crouched, keeps you off the radar and they still probably wont notice you.

Radar 2- The AC also messes with your own teams radar, making it hard for them to identify enemy positions.

Visibility- Although you are indeed harder to see, you can still see people while they are in AC. It appears as a “wavy” spot on the otherwise solid background.

I use it alot depending on map and gametype. I tend to use it just to jam the enemy radar. [Here’s a great Invis clip](http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/FileDetails.aspx?fid=12773698&player=KIN9 N1NJA)

It’s more effective at masking your teammates movements than your own. Especially on maps with multiple floors (Sword Base, Countdown) If you know you teammate is about to charge with a sword, jam the motion sensors and tell him to run. Its most effective if you turn on the cammo on the opposite side of your opponent. Since the enemy has a basic idea “the cammo guy must be near the center of interference” they will turn towards you and have their backs towards your 1 teammate with sword or all your teammates with whatever. As your enemies turn to face your Team, rush out and assist (cammo still on)

This is the best way I can think to use AC. I have learned how to read the AC Radar to the point were I know where the AC guy is and where is team is. The problem is only when my team and the other team is using AC… Talk about annoying

To Give away MY position is exactly why I use it, it effectively urges them to face my general direction allowing my team to sprint from behind them.

Nope, this was fixed before 343 took over. It only jams enemy motion sense. Whens the last time you played with a teammate that used cammo?

I stopped using AC a long time ago Bud. I play Grifball and MLG mainly now and I dont enjoy things like the AC and AA. But when I do hit up the Super Slayer playlist, I party up with my friends and us sprint. That Armor Ability can allow you to get to cover, get to your teams positions, and secure the power weapons. So in my personally opinion, sprint is the way to go. Although I can see the purpose of AC, I just never was able to use it to my benefit more so than sprint. Although the invis power-up I do enjoy…

I hate you all >.<

No but seriously, I think camo is a very cheap armor ability (so is armor lock, jetpack
etc). The thing that wrecks my head the most is snipers that sit back in their base using
camo. How sad can you get?

Not a very good way to introduce yourself… But I agree with the cheapness of those armor abilities

While I dont use it often, I have noticed the better players use it in short controlled burst when you get close to them. For me that slows my advancement tremendously and allows them, I assume, to track my actual position while allowing them to move during its use without me being able to zero in on them.

I find it sad that someone cant post a thread for the discussion of an AA without those that dont like using that AA to come in to say what we all know, some like AA some dont, but this thread is dedicated to tactical use of AC.

If you have nothing besides AA are cheap, you hate them and dont use them, I believe there are many threads with those subjects, please feel free to express your dislike there.

Good thread OP and welcome to Waypoint.

I can also agree with that. Some players can use it really well and I defiantly enjoy the challenge those players bring. I enjoy having to adapt. But I do not, under any circumstances, like people who use it thinking it makes them completely invisi an is the best thing in the world. It makes easy kills for me and I do not like the easiness of it. I have to clarify that I agree that some AAs can be used cheaply more so than others, but all can be used legitimately.

Like others said, it’s always a good radar jammer so your team mates can take advantage of the situation, get into position without being detected.

Of course it’s great for sniping. Super cheap, yeah, but tell that to my perfection with it.

Always try to mix it up, sometimes stand right in the middle of the open. They’ll expect you to be behind cover, other times do be in cover. When an enemy sees you, get behind cover, camo, then sneak out of the cover. They’ll think you’re still behind it.

Turning it on and off a lot near enemies really makes them paranoid.

Camo can be sort of good for jacking vehicles. Mostly slow moving ones like tanks and wraiths. They’ll be focused on the bigger more visible threats.
