Armor ability system not changing from Halo: Reach?

I thought 343 said that they were going in a new direction with the “armor abilities”. They said that pick-ups in Halo: CE & 2 were armor abilities, as well as Halo 3 equipment. I believe they said it was going to be the next step in this cycle in the series. They said this I think the Bulletin after the First Look was released. Why does it seem that this “armor ability” system seem so close to Halo: Reach’s armor ability system? Hopefully they can give us better feelings about this game soon.

Heres the Q&A:
Will Armor Abilities and/or Equipment return? –Daedalos42

Without going into too many details, in Halo: CE, you’d fight for control over armor abilities based on timing and map control, and that’s something that evolved over time until it became the Equipment pick-ups in Halo 3 and eventually the Armor Ability loadouts in Reach. Halo 4’s system will be a logical evolution, but based on lessons and inspiration from the (matchmaking) successes and less-than-successes in prior titles.

I liked Halo CE’s way.

From what I can understand, I’ve come to the conclusion that the problem with Reach’s AA system wasn’t the abilities themselves (in most cases atleast), it was the maps that they were used on. Most of the only maps in Reach that worked with these abilities were either forge maps or DLC. Most of the rest weren’t well designed with AAs in mind, mainly because they were recycled from campaign. The maps in Halo 4, however, are built from scratch with the concept of both new and old style gameplay, so AAs like sprint and jetpack are going to be able to work, at least, fairly well on these maps. Also, if 343 are to make maps that are remade from previous Halo games, they would do like they did with the Anniversary Map pack and make additions to the map that allow you to play the new style of gameplay, and/or customize your own version of the map’s original gameplay style.
