I have seen a lot of people complaining about armor abilities and I have to agree the way the abilities were done in Reach wasn’t the best way to go about it. I have come up with a new way that adds to what Reach brought to the table while I believe fixing issues that Reach brought.
1. Put Overshield and Invisibility back on the map. Add’s more strategy.
2. Have 3 tiers of abilities that are earned through points. Kind of like a point streak in call of duty but are not killstreaks(stealth bombers, air strikes, etc.)
3. Have levels so where you can use the abilities more as you continually use them. Like Pro level in call of duty
4. Allow you to choose which ones you want in each tier so you don’t just get one you get three, and you don’t get one over and over and over again like using the armor lock constantly in Reach.
5. Can’t recieve Tier 2 until you use Tier 1, can’t recieve Tier 3 until you use Tier 2.
6. Add commendation to the armor abililities so it gives reason to use every ability.
7. Armor abilities must be bought just like the armor in Reach. So you can limit what they use also by making them reach a certain level in order to buy it. 1, 2 would be open out of the box but the others would have to be bought.
8. Tier 1 abilities can be put into Tier 1, 2, 3. (Example: Tier 1: Sprint, Tier 2: Evade, Tier 3: Clone)
9. Tier 2 abilities can be put into Tier 2, 3 (Example: Tier 1: Sprint, Tier 2: Quick Draw, Tier 3: Sleight of Hand)
10. Tier 3 abilites can only be put into Tier 3.

AL has it’s uses, however in my formula you will not see AL as much as you did in Reach.
In reach you could just use it over and over and over again. In my theory AL would have to be earned and you would have to earn Tier 1 and Tier 2 before you get AL. Once you get AL you could only use it for so long and then you would have to go back to Tier 1 and Tier 2 before earning it again. Hence you wouldn’t see it as much as you did in Reach.

lol if that wasn’t a jet pack then what was it. Cause I just watched it again and whatever it was propelled him forward like a jet pack would.

It’s called Thrusters and it’s been in his armor since Halo 2.
Halo 3 was the start of the abilities. Reach took it into a new direction but had some issues. I’m afraid Halo 4 will have some sort of abilities regardless if its like Halo 3, Reach, or something different.

Zero G thrusters to be exact. Which only works with no gravity. Frankie confirmed it shortly after it the trailer was shown.
Unfortuanteley, and fortunately in this case, multiplayer tends to follow with canon. This excludes the possibility of armor abilities in Halo 4, but still opens up options for equiptment or something new.

Equipment may be similar but no way the same. You weren’t equipped with it once you spawn. If anything that is how Halo 4 should be done excluding game breaking mechanics included in reach and your OP
Just have about 10 armor abilities, and have it to where you have to buy them like you would armor. Once you buy them, you can choose them from the loadout (if they’re in that gametype.)
