Will Armor Abilities and/or Equipment return? –Daedalos42
> Without going into too many details, in Halo: CE, you’d fight for control over armor abilities based on timing and map control, and that’s something that evolved over time until it became the Equipment pick-ups in Halo 3 and eventually the Armor Ability loadouts in Reach. Halo 4’s system will be a logical evolution, but based on lessons and inspiration from the (matchmaking) successes and less-than-successes in prior titles.
To me, this seems like they are hinting at Armor Abilities as pick-ups on the map, especially the bolded portion, considering how poorly AA’s as loadouts worked. This would be similar to the Halo 3 equipment and, if anyone has played it, the MLG playlist.
Please let me know what you got out of this
P.S. Be clean. Just because I mentioned the MLG playlist doesn’t mean it’s “tryhard” or “elitist”, only speculation.
It means that they have learned from the successes and less-than-successes from prior titles.
I feel like i just said something BSangel would say.
but no, really, that doesn’t hint towards anything really. just that they learned from reach.

Thats why I said it was just speculation. What do you think they are going to do regarding AA’s then?
That’s not what I got out of it. He was just discussing the evolution of equipment in Halo from Camo and Overshield to H3 equipment to armor abilities. H4 with be the “natural evolution” of this progression.
That being said, I hope camo and overshield go back to being map pickups to be controlled and fought over.

Exactly what I was thinking. Active Camo and Armor Lock were the two most abused AA’s in Reach and debatably (I think undebatably, but whatever) ruined Reach. On top of this, the removal of Camo and Overshield took out another purpose for controlling the map and its equipment.
Older MLG Variants I think V1 - V3 had Armor Lock as a pickup.
Jetpack and evade are pickups on V6
Jetpack is a pickup on V7
It works nicely in my opinion.
Armor Abilities are garbage, it should be used immediatly when you pick it up just as in Halo:CE and Halo 2.
Halo 3 with bubble shield and regen were bare-able, but on-pickup use would be so much better.

Have you played the MLG playlist in Reach? I thought the placement of Jet-Pack on Countdown help add a good twist on the gameplay. On Sanctuary they don’t do too much, but they change up some aspects of the game and the opening pushes to ring are pretty intense. I agree, multiple AA’s as loadouts is not the way to go, but as pick-ups they play fairly well.
