Argus, a Halo:Reach Machinima. Actors Needed!

Welcome, Waypoint forum-goers! Argus, an upcoming machinima series by Papl Productions, needs voice and body actors. Without your assistance, this project cannot be possible.

For those considering body acting, read the section below for a list of available characters and armor requirements.
Voice actors need to scroll down to the latter section, where you will find lines from the script for each character, and details about the auditioning process.

Body Acting

Argus contains a large cast of characters, some with high ranking armor requirements. Below is a list of characters that are needed for episode 1.

[Note: All of the characters listed below are in the first episode. As new episodes are released, new characters will appear, and new openings for actors will be available.]

[/li]- Human Soldiers - Armor: Military Police, color varies between scenes.

  • Elites - Armor: Varies between scenes. Zealot, minor, and officer armor is used throughout the episode. If you have officer armor, please tell me in your post.

I would also like to know which DLC map packs you have for Halo: Reach, as we will be using many of these maps during filming.

Voice Acting

For all you voice actors out there, I have provided a list of characters available to you, along with a few lines for each role. To audition for a role in Argus, you will need to send me a brief recording of your voice. You may use the lines I have written for each character below, or you can use your own lines in your audition.

I HIGHLY recommend watching Arbiter 617’s tutorial, How To Voice Act For Machinima.
In this video, Arby provides several useful tips for machinima auditioning with Audacity. As said in the video, DO NOT send me the Save As file, but click export as .wav or .mp3.

When you have completed your audition recording, please send it to me, PsychoPineapple, at PaplProductions330@gmail.com.

[Note: All of the characters listed below are in the first episode. As new episodes are released, new characters will appear, and new openings for actors will be available.]

Available voice acting roles:

Hal- The protagonist of the series. A highly proficient Spartan, Hal is loyal to his commanding officers, and thinks before he acts.
“Reach hasn’t fallen yet, Romero. As long as some of us are still fighting, there will always be hope.”
“This is Hal three three zero to UNSC Command.”

Romero- A minor character. He is an old friend of Hal, and a staff seargent fighting during the fall of Reach.
“I was a little surprised when I heard you were coming in. It’s been awhile, Hal.”
“Really? Reach is falling and ONI’s concerned about radio security. Typical.”

Command- Voice only, orders Hal to report to different destinations.
“Excellent work, Hal. We need you to bring the package to an extraction point at the Manassas Spaceport."

Captain David Walker- The guy in charge who always knows what to do. He gives orders, but isn’t cruel about it. Listens to the opinions of those under his command.
"This is Captain David Walker. Spartan three three zero, if you can hear this, respond immediately.”
“Please, Hal. All I need you to do is stop by and take a look at what we’ve found.”

Hunter- Extremely suspicious of everything about the spartan program. Very mistrusting of Hal, but loyal to the Captain.
(Sarcastic) “So this is him then? The Spartan that can solve all our problems.”

Argus (Role Filled)- Forerunner Artificial Intelligence. Matter of fact on the surface(like 343 Guilty Spark), but as the story progresses, a more crafty side of him develops.
“Welcome, Reclaimers. It has been far too long.”

Sicarii- An Elite Zealot. Early in the story, he loses his honor, and will stop at nothing to regain it. He is intensely devoted to the covenant belief system, and this eventually leads to conflict with his Shipmaster.
“I am a Zealot, Shipmaster, and do not need to be lectured about my past transgressions. I shall not fail again.”

Shipmaster (Role Filled)- An Elite Shipmaster of the cruiser Guided Ascension. He is very prideful of his cruiser and the flagships that accompany it. This pride sows distrust bbetween him and the Zealot Sicarii.
“I do not accept mistakes, Sicarii. Not only did you fail to protect the Spire, but you allowed that Spartan- that demon- to escape with valuable intelligence!”

City Soldier 1/City Soldier 2- Both of these characters have extremely minor roles, as they both only have one or two lines.
“Hey, check it out! A spartan!”
“A spartan?”

Elite 1- A minor Elite role, also with only a few lines.
“Shipmaster! We have received a transmission from one of our scouts. The demon has been found!”

Thank you so much for your contributions to this project! Argus wouldn’t be possible without you!

Bump

This Sounds interesting. I’m actually choosing between, Captain Welker, Command, and Argus…however, Argus seems interesting. I’d like voice Argus.

Go ahead and send me an audition for each of the characters you want, then. Thanks so much for your contribution!

alrighty, I should have lines ready by tonight.

Coolio. I look forward to it!

I forgot to mention, are you going to enhance A.I. Argus’ voice.

Also, i emailed you Argus’ Lines. Let me know how they turn out.

Love your voice, man! I think you’ll fit well with the role. Just one thing, though, and I suppose this is my fault for not explaining well enough. When you voice Argus, could you try sounding more sinister? Keep the matter-of-fact 343 tone, just make him seem like an AI you would have an uneasy feeling about.

And yes, I do plan to make the voice sound like an AI, and I would be happy to send it to you!

like when 343 GS went on rampant towards the end of Halo 3?

A little more subtle than that. Think of Argus as having a little more Didact like sinister tone.

Ah…I can do that. I’ll send you another voice file.

Thanks! Really appreciate what you’re doing.

Btw, I just noticed the thread for your Halo 4 Machinima. If you need any help with anything, or have any spots open, just let me know and I would be happy to help.

Yea, i was just filming ep 1. im gonna need someone who is good at recording and perhaps add some after effects to it.

I forgot to mention, i apologize for not sending the other file. I had the recording to complete on my machinima, but i will send the other voice file tonight.

Absolutely fine. I use sony vegas, not after effects, so probably won’t be much help there. Besides, i’m working on Argus alot right now, so recording isn’t going to work out either. If you have any voicing or body acting roles, I’d be happy to do that. Looking at your thread though, it seems all your roles are taken.

Well, im planning on having 6 seasons (ill probably do more), 10 episodes each, for at least a length of either 10 or 20 mins. However, their will be new characters appearing in season 3 and season 5.

Well, when the time comes, I’ll be sure to send you an audition. For now, I need more people for Argus.

I sent a second set of aud lines for Argus. Let me know how they turn out.
