Yesterday, had the most fun game in Arena EVAR. Because I am a total sprint noob. My team was getting owned by a clearly superior team, down by 9 or 10 points… Somehow I found the sword and turned the tide with a killing frenzy… we win 50-49
I have mixed feelings about that because they were owning us, out team shooting everything. Our shots so poor, we should have lost. Sword unfair?
However, they kept setting each other up for me to sprint out of Ring, sword pummel one and sprint back to ring. So they deserved to lose? Sword Fair?
IDK, that was the only match that the sword was ever a game changer for me. Most games, if enemy has sword, easy… call him out, stay away or set him up by baiting a charge/nade/headshot.
What’s your opinion on sword in Arena with TU(no sword-block) I honestly freaking loved how powerful and reliable it was.
Since sword block was supposed to help when against sword sprinters…it’s really goes to a whole nother level without it.
Way easy to turn the tide of battle and dominate with if the other team is having any trouble taking the person out.
Make no mistake, you were a beast that game and deserved the victory, bravo to you sir.
It’s too powerful either way; Sword-block did little to effect it.
Team Shooting is just one aspect that the opposing team did right, they did not however have map control, the whole point of Asylum is to control Ring 2, where you can shoot from their carbine and your carbine as well. The fact that you got sword means your team probably had ring control as you wouldn’t be running out in the open with a sword. (Or if you did then the other team was just bad), and since your team had some semblance of ring control you should be rewarded by using that sword. It is not “Campy” or “Nooby” The other team did not think about map control and they lost. They deserved that loss.

Oh, trust me. Not even close to camping. I was sprinting out, in and around the ring. Was forced to run/sprint away to Court(Snipe Garden?) so I was pretty freaking mobile with that sword.
It just baffles me that players with so much DMR skill would do things like this. As I ran from Jump Up to Court behind Car for cover, they started sprinting towards me thinking I was one shot or low shield! Since I heard them sprinting, I figured “they can’t shoot at me while sprinting.” So I turned around and we sprinted right into each other. Easiest double kill, they didn’t get to make a single shot.

Answered your own question. The Sword is broken with the addition of sprint. Because you had the sword they were not able to get ring control back at all so they were left exposed and lost because of it. If there was no sprint they could have flanked you.

That’s what I was thinking. This was arena, I want to win with my DMR… not a sword spree.
However, they had the sword first. Because the had the superior shots, the gained ring control first and took that 9 point lead. They lost sword, then lost ring control. By gaining sword and ring control I guess you could say it was fairish. But I don’t like thinking that sword becomes the deciding factor of who get’s ring. (but thats what shotty is for right, kill sword guy?)
There is a reason its called a power weapon.

if its that much of a factor, why didn’t anyone bother to pick up the shotgun. There are two of them on the map…
There is one thing I would like to know.
How many sword kills did you have?
Once it was out, did you pick it up again?

Thats what I said just before you posted.

I’ll have to load it again and watch. I believe it ran out and I picked it up again. I know it said my weapon of choice was dmr with 6 kills. So probly just 5 sword kills, maybe six. But not 7 or more because that would have meant most of my kills were sword instead of DMR.
Where can I see game history on here? I am used to seeing it on Bnet, but that’s useless now.

Haha I have a habit of skimming rather than reading. I should work on that.

Click the tab at the top of the page that says your name and has your cR rank. Go to stats or service record. Near the top left it will have what you selected (stats or service record) Click that and game history will be one of the selections.
Based on you only getting 5-6 kills with the sword, It sounds like you were pretty fairly matched. They just happened to outplay you at the beginning of the game and gain map control for a short time.

Not where u said it was but I found it. http://halo.xbox.com/en-US/Career/HaloReach/GameHistory#/?game=995273661§ion=Unknown
It looks like less awesome than it was when you look at their ranks. But before I picked up that sword, I had the very lowest score on the board. And the teamate that scored less then me always beats me 1v1 and usually outscores me in MM too.
Edit:Before I picked it up, I had lowest score and they had 9 point lead
Lol, this all also happened on my B-Day. All those happy b-day wishes cashed in.
I probably didn’t explain very well.
You can’t link it yourself or it will say error occurred, but here is the correct link.
Im guessing its this game

Ah yes, thank you. I’m still kinda nooby. I have only played Combat Evolved for PC before Reach like 7 months ago.
