I don’t enjoy coming onto waypoint and posting about this nonsense. However, I will report each and every player who leaves a match in arena early from now on (regardless if they are on my team or the opposing team) Edit: I will report each player that drops out from the LOSING side regardless if they’re on my team or not.
Reporting players is something I avoided in the past, but it’s happening way too often, and I hope others will do the same. (Just finshed a team arena placement match where it was 4v4 to begin with, and 3 minutes later, a 1v4 slaughter).
it’s too much. Please stop.
Ps. If we could not move or lock this thread it would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
You know yesterday I was kicked out of a match. I had no reason to quit. It was a match we were clearly winning. Needless to say I was pretty PO it happened but it bothered me MORE thinking I hope I don’t get reported for quitting

The same thing happens to me. Just yesterday I had to quit an arena match because my internet connection was throwing a fit. I waited until my K/D was positive then quit so I wouldn’t drag down my team.
I also have a feeling that the type of people to frequently quit arena matches aren’t hanging around on the forums.
You know that’s what the banhammer is for. Someone might have a bad day or disconnect. The ban hammer will hit em. Last thing they need is to lose their account, especially if it’s not their fault.
As much as I can empathize with your sentiment, you should be playing on an organized team. If you’re over 15 years old, you should realize how immature, selfish and impulsive your average videogame player is.
There is no penalty that 343 can implement that will prevent these “special” players from rage-quitting whenever something doesn’t go as they’d prefer.
Nothing.
Whenever I intend to play seriously, I’ll only do so if I can field an entire 4-player team. Otherwise, I know I’m simply spinning the wheel of chance that I’ll get a loser on my team who bails whenever he doesn’t get the power weapon he wanted or goes negative on his precious KD ratio.

While there may be exceptions like yourself. I have over 24 hours of MP playtime logged in H5G and I have yet to be booted for server issues on 343i’s end or Internet problems on mine.
Not one time.
So it’s very difficult for me to believe all these people who are claiming “343i’s servers booted, that’s why I DNF’d”

Lucky you. Myself and most of my friends will get randomly booted from games and we’re stationed all over the U.S. It’s become a regular thing for us.
I believe arena bans are handed out to anyone that quits more than one ranked game in a one hour period. (probably longer, but I’m not going to test that theory by ruining someone’s games)

I disagree. Quitting wasn’t as prevalent in Halo 2 & Halo 3. And if it was, It certainly didn’t have the negative impact on the Arena experience like that in H5G.
why should I need to “find a team” to enjoy arena? Why am I the one who needs to change his behaviors/play style so people who quit can do as they see fit?
Maybe most just don’t care about arena? You get your placement rank and then its time to grind. No thanks. I used to enjoy the journey to 50. Now, its just meh. I’ll quit if the match sucks.
Remember… There are people out there that report just to be jerks. They get beat at a game, they report. No reason other than report. I had the name harp00n fatties for over 5+ years… ONE person reported me and Xbox Live folks changed my name.

This happened to my smurf account. I was slightly mad lol. I played extremely well one game and just destroyed the other team. Received a message not even 3 minutes later.
lol jokes aside its so truee! Beyond tired of seeing ppl justify quitting because they are catching Ls. Play till you get good and suck it up. Who cares about your KD if half your games are DNF

But…but I thought having a harsh Banhammer saves you from all the evil quitters?
“Praise the Banhammer!” Says everyone who practically beg for a quitting problem.
Frankly, this game deserves it’s quitting problem.

Because losers with poor sportsmanship are going to be losers with poor sportsmanship regardless of whatever 343 does. It’s not a matter of principle. It’s a matter of accepting reality. Videogames, and the internet in general, are a cesspool of the lowest ranks of entitled, bigoted human refuse.
10 years ago the Halo community may very well have been different. That’s not today.
You can choose to “stick to your guns” and ride the moral high horse, but it’s not going to prevent you from being teamed-up with the aforementioned losers.
It sucks, but it is what it is. And that’s why I choose to circumvent even the possibility of it happening by playing with friends.

man, have times changed that much since we started playing halo back in the day?

343i made H5G’s multiplayer alot of fun to play, so yeah, I like arena.
btw- That’s a great example to set here on waypoint, I’ll just quit when the game gets tough. Way to lead by example my man.
The game just doesn’t seem as rewarding as games previously in terms of replay value. Some say the competitiveness is a good thing but let’s face it that is a small niche in a big community of fans. Long gone are the days of playing with some randoms and finding a new friend in the chaos of social slayer. my connection works great but today it decided to implode and disconnect me twice from play. bad days happen and we should be finding ways of how distinguish simple quit situations from unfortunate situations of disconnection.

What dream world were you living in? How nostalgia can cloud people’s memories. H2 and H3 had a high rate of quitters and there wasn’t anything in place to stop people from quitting, (not unless you count H3 by losing a win point when you quit). Quitting has been an issue since the dawn of multiplayer games.
Play FFA. It’s not changing any of your behaviors or play style, since you do not want to play with teammates in a team playlist.

I wouldn’t say nostalgia, some matches are just determined by luck. and if thats the case then in games previously I have been very lucky in avoiding that…until 5 came rolling around the corner now it’s disconnections and quits galore
