You know when you hover over a playlist in Halo 5: Guardians, a screenshot appears as a background? I’ve noticed that quite a few of those screenshots are really bland and don’t show off the mode they’re meant to represent; they’re just not appealing enough, at least in my opinion. This can have negative consequences because people will look at the playlists and think “meh, that looks boring”, when the mode is actually insanely fun to play. For example, the Super Fiesta playlist has a blue guy in the air with a regular fuel rod cannon. That doesn’t really show the player how chaotic the mode is; instead, why not have two Spartans clashing, one with a SPNKr EX and the other with a Tartarus’ Gavel? Or something like that. Heck, 343i could even hold a screenshot competition where the winner gets his or her screenshot featured as a playlist’s background. Appearance is important because it draws people in, as we’ve seen in the custom game browser.
But yeah, I feel like the playlists could use cooler looking screenshots to draw more players in. It actually makes a bigger difference than you’d realize.
More importantly all forge made maps need to show what the map actually looks like instead of the generic forge canvas background. But then yes, new playlist backgrounds would be sweet as well.

I agree! Would get people more pumped to play on the map that’s loading.
The playlist backgrounds in general, as well as the pictures of maps in the pre-game loading screen, are abysmally inaccurate. On top of what OP says, when you’re loading up a game, the game will often slap a picture from a totally different map in the background. So much for “next-gen”…
But I’m EXTREMELY surprised and hugely disappointed that there are no background screenshots for maps. I mean for god’s sake 343i, people put third party content in these screenshots- what can you guys do?

They do if the map creator takes a screenshot and saves it as the background.

I feel like it should be required of any map featured in matchmaking.

I’m not sure why the screenshots don’t show up in matchmaking. Something to ask 343i for sure.

I figured that was the case. Thanks for sharing that information!
