I’ve been playing a lot of arena lately, specifically Slayer. I was low diamond in preseason and january, plat 6 now. I keep getting placed against high diamond and onyx players and getting swept. Arena is now incredibly frustrating to play because I can’t get any good even matches. Anybody else been getting similar issues?
I was still unranked in Slayer today (and even when I am ranked, I’m silver/gold at best.) There were a couple of matches where I was up against platinums, and no one on my team was above gold.

Unfortunately this is true. This is still my only real complaint about Halo 5. The ranking system is broken
This is my thought. If everybody really liked the Halo 3 ranking system why was it ever abandoned? This goes for Bungie too with Reach and Destiny. I thought it was a fair system. I think its weird that there was a good matchmaking system that was well received but later tossed aside for systems that don’t work nearly as well. MCC had something similar.

Agreed. Arena would be far more enjoyable if it was better at rating your own skill and then doing a better job matching you against equal competition.

Yup. I’ve been raging about this since Day 1. It’s unfair and makes for a miserable experience.
Sadly Warzone is now nothing but full squads dumping on lower leveled randos as well. Everytime I hop on I just kinda sit there for 10 minutes deciding what to play that will be the least miserable. Quite sad really.
I don’t mind going up against higher ranked players if the connections good. It’s a good gauge to see where you are at, the problem you’ll likely find is that most won’t be running solo.
Do you play with friends in a fireteam? I noticed that when I play with friends the game tends to give us WAY harder players to play against and way worse players as teammates. Like me and my boy play Team Arena and like 4 games in a row they will put us with unranked players and the entire enemy team is Onyx or Diamond.
The first two seasons it seemed like i was playing people in my general skill level and not much higher. This season, it seems like i’m always up against two ranks higher…I just play warzone and btb for the most part now.
I didn’t really play much halo after H3 but if I remember correctly…in H3 ranked if I was still below a 20 I would play people ranked anywhere from 1-30 so silvers playing platinums is pretty similar in my opinion. Or a gold playing with diamonds. There will always be problems but I really don’t mind playing higher ranked players.
