Arena is completely absurd and elementary

When you get up to the higher levels of Onyx/Champion, it is literally impossible to win games unless you have a full team of 4. This is because even if you go in alone, it will match you and 3 other randoms against a team of 4 with no prejudice. I have no idea why developers thought this would be acceptable when they are trying to promote how competitive and balanced their new ranked playlists are. Is there some sort of counter-point I’m not seeing here? Because from my perspective this seems ridiculous.

Well uhh get a team?

That is beside the point. I have a team that I play with but when I play alone I shouldn’t have to play against a full team of 4. Having 2 full teams play against eachother is totally fine, but this makes zero sense.

Then go in with a team of 4. Problem solved. Stop -Yoinking!- about it being broken and solve the problem.

Again, as in my previous comment you neglected to read, that is beside the point. You should not have to worry about playing a full team of 4 if you enter an arena playlist alone.

But it is broken. Single searchers shouldn’t be matching teams of 4, unless the population is so small that the system has no choice.

I don’t ever have problems against full teams. I always kill 1-3 of them before they manage to gun me down.

I know how you feel, My friends aren’t always on, or they want to play something else, so most of the time I play by myself, it makes an impossibility and my team and I just get destroyed in slayer. In swat one person can carry, but in slayer, that’s almost impossible.

This is mainly a problem for people at the Champion/High Onyx rank.

it’s still a problem for diamond, if the enemies work together, your team’s done for.

This is a non-post. If you’re playing Onyx/Champion, you should be playing on a semi-pro level. What do semi-pros and pros do? They play in teams. If you don’t like it, don’t play alone. Pretty simple. The whole point of Arena at a higher level is to win; you win by playing with people who communicate.

The game Halo’s ranking system resembles most closely is League of Legends. Even in League of Legends the Challengers and Masters don’t play against other full teams of 5 in ranked. Same with many other games with similar ranking systems. So how is this a non-post?

I get what you mean about playing against a team with you’re with a bunch of random lone wolves, but this is difficult to deal with at any level when you’re solo. I would think that there are plenty of companies that would love to have a player of your caliber on their team. You should check out the companies page and see if any are a fit for you. Until you team up I’d imagine you’re going to have a rough road ahead. Keep in mind that playing at the level you are, it’s expected that well oiled, highly communicative and tactful teams are the only people entering. Even if I had the choice, I wouldn’t dare set foot in that type of playlist even with the best of my company at my side.

I love how the OP is getting flak for bringing up a problem. OP shouldn’t have to bring 3 friends just to play a quick game in arena.

It’s not like you have the choice NOT to play in Onyx. If he had the choice to play in a less competitive scene of arena (of the game type he feels like playing), being grouped with a bunch of strangers, then, then it would be a non-issue.

He has that problem because he plays in higher ranks such as onyx/champion. You are, well, Diamond…

As a diamond player I more often then not play against onyx rather than other diamonds so I know their skill level.

Yeah. That’s kind of an issue too. Whenever I’m Champion I’ll play against teams of Diamonds sometimes and will usually win even if I have randoms, because they’re usually high Onyx/Champ as well. In the end lobby they’re always like “Well no -Yoinking!- wonder”. I feel bad because they shouldn’t have to play against people with such high elos.

I now refuse to play Arena solo. I played more than half my Arena matches solo and hated 95% of it due to the broken ranking system, broken spawns, garbage maps, and gimped radar. When I played with a team of 4 the experience was significantly better.

At least in previous games and even the MCC playing solo you had a fighting chance…
