A simple question for the lore fans, are you sick and tired of the year 2552 getting the spotlight in most Halo media? I can’t be the only one who wants to see the many battles mentioned throughout the franchise develop and have their stories told. Hell, years don’t even have anything in them! Was there just some gap between 2549 and 2552? Did an Elite go to the Prophet and say “Hey, we haven’t killed any humans in two years, let’s go do something.”
I understand 2552 was an important year in the Halo universe but, there’s countless planets with stories waiting to be told in that twenty eight year long war that we’ve never seen or were only mentioned. I want to see the Siege of the Atlas Moons and it’s victory against the Covenant. The Battle of Kholo outside of just flashbacks. I want to see more then just Reach, Earth and the Halo arrary.
Media set in 2552, just to further prove the point:
Combat Evolved- Halo 2- Halo 3- Halo 3: ODST- Halo: Reach- Spartan Strike- Fall of Reach- Ghost of Onyx- First Strike- The Flood- Halo: The Graphic Novel- Uprising- New Blood- Landfall- Helljumpers- Bloodline- Broken Circle- 4 stories from EvolutionsNote: Ignore the “I” option. I guess I misclicked add another option without realization
there is currently over 30-40 points of media set outside 2552
This continues to grow monthly with escalation and weekly with Hunt the truth ARG as well as numerous books depicting event leading to halo 5 set in 2558. i don’t speak for everyone but i would hardly say 2552 has jaded my opinion of the narrative focus seeing as it is but a single layer of a ever expanding universe.
Add in Broke Circle , over half that novel takes place in 2552. I really enjoyed that novel. However, yes 2552 I think needs to be moved on from for the future of Halo .

The reason for that being is because the vast majority of the major storyline that 343 Industries takes place in 2552 and beyond. And remember, the Master Chief was in cryo-sleep for four years after the end of Halo 3. So in reality it is 2557/58. Also I have already suggested this to a few other people on this subject. But if you have not done so already and want a little pre-2552 stuff, I would highly suggest you watch Halo: Legends Prototype/Homecoming. Both of these animated shorts I believe take place sometime during the beginning of the Human-Covenant war, you should also read Halo: Contact Harvest if you have not done so too. Also for Halo Legends, they can be found on YouTube. So no need to spend money on that front.

If I have Halo Legends as my avatar do you think I haven’t seen it? I have read every novel aside from the Forerunner Saga, New Blood, Thursday War, and Mortal Dicata. Comics are a different story because they are hard to come by where I live

Just because you do have that as your avatar does not mean I automatically known if you have seen it or not, which is why in my post I said “But if you have not done so already” because I did not know.
I’m not sick of that year at all. Sooo much awesome stuff happens during that year.
Don’t get me wrong, other media taking place in previous years are nice, but, again, there’s so much awesome stuff in 2552, and while a lot of it has been discussed/discovered, there’s still still more to talk about/discover.
I wish they would have some more media covering the period between 2532-2551. Compared to the 2552-2553 media, and the 2525-2531 media, very little exists in that large gap during the war.
I mean, 2552 was the single most important year in the Human-Covenant War. It was both the war’s climax and the war’s end. Reach was glassed in that year, Alpha Halo discovered and destroyed, Onyx destroyed, Delta Halo discovered, the Flood released, the Great Schism happened, Earth attacked, the Ark discovered…
The events of 2552 were the culmination of the everything the Human-Covenant War was about. Everything before that was a slow and steady build-up to an enormous explosion of colliding fates. That’s what made 2552 so important, and that’s why we kept hearing so much about 2552.
But now we’re in 2558, so don’t worry about it, we’re past that all.
